Hi,
some of you may have noticed that I was not online for a few days now.
Well, we had an IRS (Steuerfahndung) raid early wednesday morning.
All in all they raided 3 houses. My own house, my Dads house and a friends house who shares a dedicated server with me.
The raid started exactly 9.00 am in all 3 houses.
They are investigating because of possible tax evasion. They must have got a tip of a jealous jerk who really thinks we are stupid enough to evade big time taxes.
About 30 officers were involved in the raid.
They searched for about 4 hrs and confiscated everything...papers, computer, cd´s, etc.
Needless to say that they have been in all banks that they know we have accounts at. All the same time.
Ok, I can speak only for my Dad (also webmaster) and me, and we didn`t evade a single cent.
Anyway, we are out of business until we get back our computers. My friend got his computer already back after they copied the HD. But since we had 5 computers in the office out take a little longer to get back.
Hopefully next week I am back online.
So german webmasters:
Get your shit together and pay your taxes like in any other biz. It really sux big time to get raided like this, and if they find something about evasion you get in some real deep shit.
I noticed that they are real "hot" right after anyone active on the web.
And if somebody is getting jealous with you,it could be very well that you are the next.
It was a big surprise for me and my Dad, cause we started out everything official (Gewerbeanmeldung).
They do not want to put us out of biz anyway. All they want is that webmasters are paying their part of taxes, just like anyone else.
They also do not mind we are into porn. As long as you do not have this illegal shit anywhere on your pages and HD.
Again: you should get your shit together and declare your web income. You could be next tomorrow.
Take it serious.
I think that they got a tip from somebody, cause they even thought we own karasxxx.com.
I guess you remember yourself in a conservation with friends/other webmasters mentioning a site or something you make money with. Thats enough guys. If this "friend" goes to the IRS and tell them you make hundreds of thousands of dollars with karas, be sure they visit you, just a matter of time.
In our case they started investigation back in may. And believe me, they have their shit together. Even if they do not understand the biz.
I strongly believe that they suspected a complete different situation of which they finally found.

Ok, I think this will be a very long thread, which I am not able to follow over the weekend. I am still hoping I get back my computers on Monday/Tuesday.
