I just got a new comp, and backed up my old comps hdd on my new one. Now I'd like to restore my outlook account settings and ICQ account setting and message history.

I do not need outlook messages, i already restored those. Also, I'd like to restore my AIM nicks and away messages. Thanks for any help.

copy icq/2000b dir (ot similar one) over the new installed icq.

put you mails in a folder, open outlook, and drag then into there. you can't find your mails trough explorer, but you can drag them out of your outlook into your desktop.

I was able to back up the icq database, thanks.

I had already backed up the email messages, but now all I need to is import my mail account settings, such as pops and passwords etc. Do you know how to do that?

as far as i know its not possible, buty i could be mestaking.

I never succeeded in doing it. it must be an ".ini" file somewhere in the window/system dir, but i never felt like looking for it

ICQ: look for *.dat and *.idx files.

its usually in 2000b dir. For example: if your uin is 555555, then you just copy 555555.dat and 555555.idx to your new icq dir. That saves all contacts and msg history for that uin.

outlook: find a "pst" file. Mine was called outlook.pst and it was in documents and settigs folder someplace. Cant tell exactly as im not using outlook any more.

hope that helps.

JewDoggyDogg.

To import old account settings into another Outlook you
need to have the foresight to export the account settings
from the old outlook in the first place. Tools/Accounts.../Export
You have the cart before the horse.

run.

*.pst files are exported personal folder files (folders in Outlook and old email).
