End of the Rumors.. The Project Details.

Many of you know that boneprone is up to a "secret project" and that it is to be unleashed at the World's Largest Adult Webmaster Convention this June in LasVegas Internext..
Before I let rumors get out of hand as to what we're are engagning in, I feel it necessary to stop the spread of innacurate information and give you a brief overview of what we are creating.

As many of you know, Tam has been hired as a active employee for boneprone.. She will be handling the interviews, and will guide you through your step by step process in becoming a "made" member.. We take this very serious, and have every intention in developing an Adult Webmaster Union By the end of June ready for the Convention In Vegas.
Our industry's first Labor Union will engage in the protection of all Union Adult Webmasters and will become a very serious venture. We have every intention of being the first "UNION" in our industry, that will protect all webmasters in our industry from the injustices that may evolve from others in our indusrty and from politcal environmental threats. We intend to become a huge factor in our political environment engaging in the lobbest fuction at Capital Hill, and fully intend to create and organize many fund raiser organizations..
Most of this is still very hush hush as we are still activly working on establishing this force. But we have every intention of introducing the industrys very first labor UNION for adult webmasters this June at the worlds largest Adult Webmaster Convention.. Internext.

Anyone that would Join a Union is insane, especially in this industry. By Joining something like this you you would basically let the "UNION" decide what is right or wrong for you. Forget about that blabla site you wanted to start, the "UNION" may look wrongly or decide it gives the "UNION" a bad rep.

People work on the adult internet because they want to be individuals and create there own ideas that can't be done in the real world. They want to work whatever hours they want, they want to try any new ideas that they have.

The minute you let someone regulate that like a government or a "UNION" it's over.

Not sure why it can be wrong to try a project like this. I don't see that this could touch my own business or the work of a CJ webmaster if he doesn't want to.
So sit back and relax until the stuff is running for 2-3 months. Then you can call it a soap opera or a good project. But for now let the guys work it out and give their best.

I have one key suggestion... For pete's sake don't call it a "union". Call it an "association" or a "professional association".

There's about 1000 different reasons why calling it a "union" will doom it to fail to achieve the objectives you outlined above. About a half dozen are addressed in replies above. The other 994 or so are obvious.

In my country (Canada), lawyers, doctors, dentists and many other professionals are "unionized" and they are most of the highest paid and most powerful professions in the country. They have charters and goals similar to what you propose for an adult webmaster's professional association. But they know to never, ever, ever identify themselves or even look at themselves as a "union".

Drop the "union" and I think it's got a chance.

I think you might be refering to his monoply as you would call it. Which is the same thing that could happen here and we all get screwed in the end. I used to work in the movie biz now you talk about union they even control the garbage men (there part of the teamsters). Now you try to stop a movie from being made no matter how contraversal and see how fast your trash piles up.

These things are illegal in some states not to say the least. Real mafia type groups run these orginizations and they are the ones who push the money thru that make them strong. Do we want the mob regulating our industry and cashing in from our hard work?

Check out the big domain issue for example thousands of domains are being held back as the price for them drops. Network Solutions has a big plan to auction the prime names back to people at much higher prices is the word im hearing. Now do we want somone holding our sites hostage also untill we give them a cut of what we make. We allow NS to screw us by not pushing legislature and demanding change. If we as the industry we are would stand up and fight for ourselves and our rights instead of who had fatter pockets or a bigger cock then maybe we could do usefull things.

I was flamed for one of my other posts about drugs now look at what you people are tring to start with this shit. You think the media would not go nutz over this and turn it into a contraversy?

I advise you all not to play with fire as you will get burned if you did not know this already. For the ones who do follow in this idea of a union or any other form of regulation you make your bed and you will be the on who will have to lay in it.

My 1 1/2 cents on the topic....

First, as said above, this shouldn't be a union, but a professional association. Unions are for employees, Professional Associations are for the self-employed.

Second, nobody will follow Boneprone precisely because there will be an impression that he will appoint his own people and try and tell everyone what to do. As can be seen by the backlash to the idea, nobody wants any of that, not with Boneprone or anyone else.

That said, I think a Professional Association is a great idea. Not only do we gain greater power and influence in the industry, but it is also a great way to network and weed out the scammers. Obviously there are many more benefits to such an organization which can be discussed later. The key thing to creating such an organization, however, is through democracy. As with any other Association, you would have regular elections to the governing body. If someone doesn't do what's expected, or is corrupt, you vote him out. That way no one personality can dominate the group and alienate all the members.

Anyway, this is the way things are done in the real world. I think such an organization would be beneficial for all. For example, if we had a lot of members we could negotiate better hosting prices, special promos from sponsors, etc., etc., etc. You guys get the idea.
