GIB?

Was GIB hit by the yesterdays incident in NYC? Their website is not working, their mailserver not working, DNS not working and dialer itself is not working too.
What the fuck...?

Talked with GIB earlier today, and I was told that:

Due yesterday's crisis in New York, the area of New York has had their lines
disabled. GIB have a server in New York (office is in the same financial district
as the World Trade centre), which distributes dialers. GIB are
currently transferring the information to another server.

To my knowledge everybody at the GIB office in New York are safe, however their office will remain closed until they can access the area.

Lets all support them as they are working on the problem - and thank god that they are all safe!

I'm happy to hear that, thank God they're ok, I was really affraid that they and their servers were in some of the buildings which collapsed.

The e-mail I recieved from GIB speaks for itself.

Dear Information Provider

As you might know the GIB offices are, or were, two blocks from the World
Trade Centers in New York City. The unprecedented and unforeseen scope of
the damage has all but taken out everything on the lower part of Manhattan.
This has caused an outage to the business services and has overwhelmed the
backup provisions that were made.

We would like to thank everyone for their emails and concerned calls and
would like to tell everyone that the entire staff of GIB is fine.

We appreciate the warm wishes and continued support during this difficult
time.

Please be assured that we are working around the clock to bring our services

Kripp.. Its like u put an image on your site and the source is the url to the image thats on your server.. But you make the source point to someone elses webpage and thats called Image sourcing someone. Which if you have alot of traffic can hurt there bandwidth and cost them tons of money and even some unwanted downtime if any..
