Question about ratios ???

ok ok i read all these people/sites that say they convert at say 1:200.

does this mean that 1 of every 200 that goes to the site clicks the banner ?

or does it mean that 1 out of 200 that click the banner sign up?

or does it mean that 1 out of 200 that visit the site click the banner then go thru to sign up ?

btw got my first signup tonight only had 160 visitors and only 40 clicked the banner and i got one

Usually this means that out of 200 people who went to the actual site signed up. That's why some sponsors can say a 1:150 with TGP traffic for example. The ratio would be better because they most likely clicked on a banner which brings more targeted traffic. They looked at the pics on the gallery and were enticed by the banner or text and therefore were more likely to buy.
