When I installed Windows ME I had LOTSA
errors! (must be More.Errors).. Then I
installed Windows 98 again with (almost)
no problems...

well the experts say that ME is supposed to use less resources. but is very hardware sensitive

Either you guys have old betas of WinME or fuckedup hardware, 'cause we use WinME on almost all workstations with NO problems at all! (In fact, most of them are running 150% longer than Win98 machines ..)

Plus, we've done testing with numerous stress-test programs and WinME is over 60% faster than Win98.

Seems like you should get a stable version of WinME. =)

Jonathan, you seems to be the only one who
thinks Windows ME works http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

WindowsME sucks. My IE 5.5 crashes lots of times per day! It's getting me crazy! I don't do anything wrong, I just browse some sites (adult or non adult) and it crashes for no fuckin reason. And then I have to press reset.

Think it works?

We run it on 20+ workstations here and have done so since early betas, close to a year now, and have never ever had any major problems. Much less probs than when we were running Win98.

So I don't think. I know so. At least for us. =)

Win ME sucks... how can Microsoft actually RELEASE such a shitty product?? Oh yea... forgot its Microsoft... anyways

I loaded up with 256MB of RAM the thing crashes when i do ANYTHING... ie yesterday i was playing a dvd movie while updating my site so i switched to cuteFTP and it froze, i had to restart

I get one of these instances almost EVERYDAY since my computer came! Anyways i dunno what Im gonna do, never got around to installing win98 too lazy...

Mr Coctail you are right but im running it on an athlon 500 with 256 megs of ram and i leave 5 dreamwaver windows open along with 5 ie 5.5 windows while extracting a movie and my comp never crashes http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif Plus i only reboot my comp once a week http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif Have you ever seen win 98 after its been running 7 days straight? Assuming you have 128 megs of ram and at least a p2-400 win 2000 is much better then any other microsoft os

there's no other solution than win2K guys :-)

really... lemme check how long it's been up now...

oh, only 62 hours... because my family went over this week and thought they needed to close the computer...

I always stay up for over a week without closing... usually do 2-3 weeks up...

that's without any reboot or crash..

Only down point is some games won't work, but who cares http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

it's stable as shit, and if something crashes, it's never (or almost never anyway) gonna require a reboot..

Well said magnatique

I would also like to "echo" Magnatique's
thoughts. I use win2k on my laptop as well as my desktop and also on most of the desktops at work and find it a hell of a lot more stable than win98/95/ME. I have rebooted my desktop ONCE this month http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif I rarely experience system crashes. I will say make sure you have a fairly strong PC. I recommend 256MB ram, although my laptop runs fine with 128, however it's not my primary computer and if it was I would have 256MB in it http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif.

I have my workstation running Win2000 and my graphic artists' workstations are all running Win2k as well..
Why?
It is amazingly stable, and you have major control over system functions..
so for a kid that grew up on Dos 3.1 the more control the better..
however if you don't know shit about the technicalities of computers then you probably should be careful...
hehe, no wait, if you don't know the technicalities of computers and your entire business revolves around them then my advice is to get off your lazy ass and learn http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif
