Dialers can someone explain why $6.99 a minute is charged for long distance call

whats going on with these $3.99 and 6.99 per minute with the dialers.Why is it so expensive,long distance phone calls are almost free?Why the hell are webmasters only making 35 cents a min on average,I'll like dialers but something is not on the up and up.

Because the phone companies and the countries take the biggest cut. AT&T takes most of that $6.99 a min.

I think the $3.99 dialers are with Sprint, but not sure.

The dialer companies and the webmasters take a smaller cut.

You also gotta remember the dialer company eats the chargeback a.k.a. "uncollectable" in the telephone world.

They could be as high as like 60%, and I am told they build that into the rate to the webmaster. I guess they could offer you more of a rate from the start, but then they would charge it back to the webmaster and your 50 or 60 cents would drop down to around the 30 cent range.

That about sums it up...... and as for me.... I'd much rather take the lower rate than to eat all those chargebacks..... JEEZ, you know that has to be a ridiculous amount of money.

At least what we get, we know what we are getting and do not have to deal with any surprises on next month's paycheck with all these chargebacks....... Good grief, I don't even wanna think about that one... makes me cringe just thinking about it. LOL

yea, the rates that dialler ( http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/wink.gif) companies get, and the rates that you are offered are not greatly different- it is not some conspiracy where you are being ripped off - atleast not by the dialler companies - hte phone company does not need to take such a chunk i do not think... but, ah well!

That's only when the surfer has the AT&T One Rate international Value Plan and they call directly to the places you mentioned.

When the dialer puts the call on a 1010288 (AT&T) code before the country is dialed, the rate is pre-set. Haven't you seen the commercials for 1010 whatever, to get thrown directly on a certain network? It's the same exact thing here.

They charged that much because they feel they can and don't care.

Why charge a reasonable rate when you can fuck your customer up the ass (And who cares if thier phone is shutoff or they can't pay rent.)

Find a legit way to make money. Dialers aren't it.

If it was legit they could just call an american number. Don't buy the BS. Find a real sponser.

They may be up now but give it a month or so for the ftc to close down these ones and they'll be gone too. (Along with your paycheck)

The last few weeks of the dialer business have been very difficult for all
of us. The US calls were shut down, the Canadian calls were cut off and your
Checks didn't arrive in the mail.

Let me explain what happened:

Name removed is a reseller for a huge company that
supplies us and many other resellers with the dialers. The name of this
company is GIB (http://www.domain removed). All minutes that our
webmasters send us go thru GIB. We then receive a check that we use to pay
all the webmasters every 2 weeks.

Now to the problems:

The company, Verity which does the billing for all of GIB's calls was sued
by the FTC and all of Verities assets were frozen. This made it impossible
for Verity to pay GIB and subsequently GIB was unable to pay us. Also the
FTC stopped all calling routes from the US. We had issued payments to all
webmasters unfortunately with the news of the FTC's suit we stopped all
payments and we are waiting for results of the FTC law suit prior to making
a decision on reissue of these funds.

I just got this in my email. I guess the FTC doesn't know what they are talking about though right?

about the dailers, in the netherlands the telecom providers have created a specific program for dail up porn. The surfer pais about $.75 a minute and the webmaster gets about $.50 a minute. Maybe this kind of programs will be used in the rest of the world very soon. Then it wouln't be a rip off but a reasoneble charge for porn.

Sairanx, as you should know Dutch dialers (Switchpoint, Tintel) are only for calls similar to USA 0800 numbers and they allow domestic calls only. For calls from other countries like USA, Germany etc. you have to set up different numbers. Furthermore these Dutch dialers are not offering any reselling at this moment. You don't make $0.50 from it but $0.32, correct me if I am wrong and contact me if you can get a better deal from KPN. :-D

the starup rate is much lower. It is possible to set up some sort of a reseller proggy, you can have more frontpages with different dailers i beleve. As far as i know it should be possible to track intividual referrers.

I can assure you of this, if there is a code inserted like the 1010 you described, the dialer company is getting a much better rate than any AT&T One Rate international Value Plan will give you. How do you think all those brand-X interconnect long distance companies make their money?

In essence the rates I showed in my original post are highter than those paid by the dialer company is paying. That was the point of my post.

the 1010288 code simply puts you on AT&T's regular network (or another code for another carrier 1010XXX)

The 1010 code is not a special low cost calling plan. From looking at it objectively, the dialer companies do not have some magic low cost deal that screw webmasters over, and it's the phone company that sets the rate.

Call AT&T yourself and see how much it costs to call one of these weird countries you have never heard of with a regular AT&T plan.
It matches exactly how much the dialer costs the end user in the dialer warnings. I called AT&T myself and checked it out.

Call AT&T and find out for yourself.

Again, there is no boogey man in the bushes ripping off webmasters and taking in the kind of porfit margins you are suggesting.
A simple call to the carrier will prove this to you. Hope this can set the record straight.
