Ok, I have never ever seen in all my time of doing adult sites, so much bickering and fighting about sponsors, and it's not ALL sponsors, it's ALOT dialer sponsors, of which I am a part of one of. Everytime I come here there is something going on with dialer companies. MOST of them start out very innocent with a webmaster asking an honest question like "Has anyone ever dealt with this one, give me feedback" or "What about that one, are they good and do they pay"

And then what do we get? We get people that own dialers popping up and slamming all these other dialers or spamming the living hell out of their own dialers, never answering the questions being asked.

Ok, on with it..... everyone wonders why all the webmasters are so damn sick of dialer companies and their bullshit.... well why wonder, no one can even ask a question for fear of starting a pissing match between dialer companies and "I can pay you more" "Why are you using them, when you could be using me?" and then you have the "ICQ me, I'll set you up" when what was asked is "What experiences do other webmasters have with this company?"

Ok we have a ton of people who run amateur sponsor programs..... do we see them having these pissing matches at every turn? No way.. they are as far as I can tell, very friendly with one another... but dialers are getting way out of control with all this.

When I first said I was going to work with a dialer company, I got all sorts of responses but the ONE thing that has stuck in my head was this:

"There is no need to cut each others throats, there are plenty of webmasters to go around and no need to start stealing each others webmasters."

This one message hit me and has been my thing since I started this job...... I see no reason why we can't, as dialer sponsors, all get along and stop all this damn fighting at every turn.

I want to stress to you this, I am not trying to be a bitch about any one dialer sponsor, we have ALL been guilty of this..... all I am saying is that none of it is making any of us look good at all..... it is only a means to piss people off more and make them not even want to be a part of anything to do with a dialer. And frankly I don't blame them.
Let me also say that what I am trying to do here is call a truce of sorts between us all...... and I am not even getting into the surfer side of the dialers so please don't throw that at me... I am simply asking if there is a truce that can be called so that we don't have every webmaster on the planet afraid to ask simple and honest question without causing a pissing match.

I couldn't agree with you more. Too many times a simple question is posed and the wolves have come out. I am only a webmaster and when I see a question posted on a topic I am interested in I usually will check out the thread. Invariably it will lead to some sort of name calling or chest pounding, etc..
All of which does nothing to help the person asking the question. I am also curious about other peoples experiences with various programs and sponsors as it helps me in making decisions. It does bother me though that when an honest opinion is offered how "thin-skinned" some people can be and immediately not only get defensive, but offensive as well so as to get the first "lick" in. This is a discussion board and should be treated as such. In any group where opinions are being stated, there is bound to be differences in opinions, that's what makes us all uinque, it's how a person responds to these differences that separates the men from the boys. Eric.... well I am in no way perfect.... good grief, I get madder than hell at alot of these posts. here and on other boards... BUT to attack people and call them out on a personal level is what I don't get....

There is not a sponsor out there worth a damn that hasn't ever gotten pissed at some point, but all this constant "I am so much better than you" thing is what irks me the most I guess..... it's not like there is a shortage of webmasters.. and what works for me may not work for you, or for the next person...... each of us have to find our own way and what works for us.

I could agree with that Tam, but when you get people like Bradman defending another company, in order to damage another ones reputation - it does not show honesty just shows how people are trying to stab you in the back. Just leave it at that, enough said.

I've been involved with message boards and groups for over 10 years and have dealt with the best of them, believe me. It just really upsets me to see how quickly a fight can break out from behind a monitor. Sit them all in a room together and you'd be amazed how civil the disagreements are settled. I've seen it time and again. I was actually talking with a co-worker today about similar situations and how when someone works alone from a home office (which a lot of people here do) how quickly our people skills diminish. I think that plays large part in the tone of some of the things I see here. We sometimes forget when typing messages and comments on a board that there are actually people at the other end reading them.

Actually this board is pretty decent compared to some others and moderators here doing fine job.
I haven't noticed anything close to what is a REAL piss. Those of you who remember 97 Ynot probably know what piss is all about. At the same time ynot censorship was too extreme, maybe that's why guys like all mighty famous Serge left it for netpond. And don't even get me started about pisses on netpond.

So right here we have pretty decent community, the only thing I'd suggest to open few more more boards on other subjects of this biz, right now it more like CJ oriented and dialers world here. How about to add search engine board and technical board for programmers?

I agree that there are alot of helpful people here.. and I wasn't ever involved with the ynot board, I wasn't around then or I just never found it... one or the other.
What I am mostly talking about is dialer sponsors...... there seems to be alot of pissing and fighting whenever a thread is started with a simple question about this company or that.. and instead of answering anything, they just go straight for the throat... I have been guilty of the same thing a time or two... so I am not excluding myself in anything.... and not trying to make it sound like I am the great almighty.... just simply trying to see if there is a way for a webmaster to get his questions answered without fear of starting another pissing match about I am better than you and we are paying more than you and such...

And I do also agree that the moderators here do a fine job.... they do stay on top of the spamming and such, but they are human and we, as adults should be more helpful with the dialer webmasters instead of stabbing at each other..... that was my point........ the thought never entered my mind that the moderators or anyone else on this board was bad..... But I'm , just like you, working... so mostly when I see the dialer threads, I go over them... I usually look at the small msgs, and when I see someone say "fuck off" then I leave it there =D

but I gotta agree, there's nothing too critical here compared to what I heard about ynot, and some on netpond...


but seriously, I can't tolerate when another sponsor steps on a thread that's not his... I got that bizman guy banned... I will get others ban for similar reasons...

Thing with dialer sponsors is that NONE, or just a few of them, are run by professional people that run it like a business. The money is fast with dialer, therefore you'll see tons of nobodies running one, people with no experience. But others run it professionaly, and get hurt by the others.

thing is, if you run a signup program, or recurring, you can't be an ass and spam to much, because you get compared to the big names like Cen, Maxcash, and such, which are big companies... and there's so many they'll choose another one...

you know what's really funny to me on the dialer threads? a lot of the people dissing each other have niteline's dialers and niteline's site for their dialer. so they are insulting and competing with each other so we can sell the same product *LOL*

speaking for myself, i would never use a dialer or any sponsor that was brought to my attention because the proprietor was insulting another's product. this is not the kind of behaviour that instills confidence.

I think everyone on this board is pretty chilled out. There are enough "stupid" threads to lighten the mood, its not an overly popular board, which i think is good because that keeps out alot of the wankers that might frequent the bigger boards.

I also think that because its run in what i'd call the "true spirit of the web" (ie me and Mag moderating in our time, no adverts, free speech, etc) there is no pressure on the content here.

Isn't it strange (and quite scary) how online communities can be built up over message boards?

Just wait for global broadband - AWI will become a huge video conferencing board, where messages are stored as video clips, lol!
