View Full Version : Network problems?
Anyone experienced network problems and huge traffic drops the last 24 hours?
My sites dropped like mad the last 24 hours http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif

Not me
My sites are fine...

The only slow route at the moment is one to Moscow. Everything in North America seems to be fine.
Check your servers internet connection for high ping times and packet loss. Also check your servers configuration and load. You can also check your referral stats to make sure no big sites removed links to you.

As I tolled you several months ago over ICQ Due, Dynamic Hosting has problems with international lines (outside us/canada).
At the time I tolled you that was the main reason for not joining them.
Lately it seemed ok, but perhaps the problems have returned?
traceroute/ping are your friends here.

Yes I have high ping times + packet loss at the moment. Wanted to know if anyone else experienced this kind of problems. Noticed traffic is being routed through UUnet now instead on Level3 wich is most likely the reason for the packet loss http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif

If this was a general problem I would not have my site with them still. If it was a general problem as well I would not post on a board because I would know what the problem was.

I doubt it. UUnet has a much better network than Level3 but it is possible that your web host has a small pipe from UUnet (more expensive than Level3) and their Level3 line is down so all the traffic has to go through a slow connection.
Why don't you ask your web host if they have an explanation?
What is your URL?
From what I know their UUnet pipe is bigger than the level3. (3 gbit uunet and 2 gbit level3) + others.
My site is tgp4all.com

I believe on Dynamic they post general connection mbit's and not the mbit's they actually buy. For instance when you've two routers connected with a Level3 connection they say 2 GB connection, whilst they ofcourse do not have a 2 GB connection, but a connection they've agreed with with level3 for a fixed cost (capped line).
Then when their level3 line is fucked, they push it on their uunet line, but it can't handle it because it's capped.
I'm ofcourse not sure at all if this is the case, i'm merely speculating this. But what I do know is even if someone would get bandwidth as low as $100/mbit (which is impossible) even then 1gb of capacity would cost 1000*$100 = $100.000 a month. Very unlikely that they pay $500.000 only for their level3 and uunet connections (let alone their other connections).
Again it ofcourse could be that they really have those connections, as I said I don't know them too well. On the other hand if they did why are you getting package loss.
Hm, why don't you just post a traceroute to your site so that all these speculations can (possibly) end? http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Coke: wtf are you talking about. I'm referring to a private conversation Due and I had months ago (as I state in my message).
Why dont you post your url and get yourself happy again for today, here i'll do it for you: www.321host-it.com (http://www.321host-it.com) . Really great hosting. You get the best for almost no money at all. Contact coke for your best deal now!
Now happy? Can I now resume posting now? Thanks.
As I was saying: dynamichosting had the problem several months ago, then it was ok for some months, and perhaps it has appeared again now, I don't know. or perhaps one of their routers is fucking up and you're getting a capped backupline.
Best way to end speculation is to phone them up and ask them what's going on.

That will only show that there is problems, like I already know. Why I made the post in the first place http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/wink.gif
I tried to find out if other people had experienced problems with backbones or it was the place I was hosted only

OK. BassChick lives in US I think, yes?
Now if some more ppl would traceroute. (some outside US, and some inside)
I will traceroute myself too as soon as I'm done with uploading, don't want to be dishonest now would I.

Nobody was talking about your hosting. Nobody was talking about Coke's hosting.
The only issue here was DID ANYONE EXPERIENCE NETWORK PROBLEMS THE LAST 24 HOURS?
I really don't care about your ping times, John Doe's ping or Bill Gates ping times.
My own ping times here from Denmark is 137ms, 124ms, 137ms and that is 17 hubs away.
But still there is apparently problems somewhere and I wanted to know if anyone else have experienced similar problems during this weekend or if it was related to my host only.
You should really get your shit together and stop seing everything as a personal attack against you / your hosting service

Seems ok from there, not superfast (because of many hops) but there is no package loss so...
Muchos, are you drunk, paranoid or anything of the sort?
Some people really make me wonder lol
Oh and Due, a traceroute would help you find out where a problem is, if any.
Dynamichosting is loading fine from here btw, so I don't think there's any problem with them or with any network at this time.

Coke: How much of your brain was lost in that nasty accident?
Can't ppl read here? I'm trying to help someone by simply stating that several months ago dynamic had a problem outside US/Canada and perhaps drop in traffic is again only outside US/Canada and I get slammed? sheeez.
If drop in traffic does not equal (is greater than) drop in money, then the problem probably was international.
Again: why don't you just phone them and ASK THEM?
