Creating a First time site, need help please

I am in the process of making a website. If possible, can someone explain to me what key ingredients that I will need to make a decent site? Also should I make it free or avs?<br /><br />Thanks

there's no way to answer this question till you decide what niche you're gonna push, and if you want a cj site, tgp, pic site, story site or what.
