XP Problem...

I have been having one hell of a time with my freaking laptop lately. Here is the latest problem.

I used a Y connector so I could use a normal keyboard and mouse. I have been using this for the last 4 days. I then try to change rooms and I just unplug the keyboard from the Y. I then go to another room and start jamming on the keyboard. I was using the battery.

I start typing on the laptop keyboard and it's fucked. Only half of the letters work. I then take out the Y and power down. I boot up and it's the same problem. I then input the Y and power down again. Same shit.

I take out the Y connector and log on as a guest on my machine and the laptop keyboard is working fine. I switch users on XP and I get the same shit.

So, I grab my keyboard and connect it back into the Y and it is working again. I checked the keyboard properties and everything is working normal. Both had the same settings as a guest and as my own account for my PC.

from what I can tell is that it has to do with your user settings - since the user "guest" works fine

have you tried to log on as admin?

there is a feature in XP that lets you restore your system back to how it was up to 30 days back

just pop in your CD - reboot - and don't press anything when it asks you press any key to start setup

then follow through
