Last i checked (about 4 years ago) .. bestiality IN ITSELF, was NOT illegal in 25 US states. However, anyone committing the act can sometimes are brought to court on charges of animal cruelty.

This info may/may not be current .. and I don't care enough to look.

As far as not getting why it is not legal .. animal laws/rights, while everyone may not agree with them, are an integral part of the law system in many countries. The basic concepts being "consent" and cruelty.

Sure, laws allow for the slaughtering of livestock, and ban sex with goats but consistency is certainly not a requirement, tenet, or reality of law.

I think the illegality of marijuana and legality of liquor (US) show that politics, and individual judge's philosophical viewpoints control laws more than consistency.
