Maybe it is possible to have a script like earlier discussed, and do something in htaccess to execute it every time someone requests a file. Any ideas anyone?

This can be done using the REMOTE_HOST server variable in mod_rewrite and put into a .htaccess file.

This will give a 403 error for anyone who tries to access your site from japan (where hostname ends in .jp).
Mod-rewrite is what you'll need to redirect:

So, how do we re-direct 403...with out screwing up the password protection.

I was getting nailed by traders, and even after I cancelled the account, I'm getting slammed by peeps who still think they can get in. I wanted to redirect them to another server...maybe a pop up hell or something. So, I try to use htaccess..and when I added errordocument 403 someurl.com
...I found that the password protection for memebers entering the site no longer worked.

Any ideas?

When someone tries to access a password protected page/directory without a good user/pass combo he/she will get a 401 not a 403 error.

I have to agree with 12 Clicks here if you use this on a cj2 site it is redirecting a potental click and visitor a site has sent you .... basicly shaving visitors and in the end people will get un fair trades.

I wasn't talking about redirecting people on my CJ, and CJ2 sites, who are unproductive. Redirecting them would make no sense, since the trade ratio would not be recorded if they are redirected. I was talking about redirecting users from other countries, on my free sites, which have no trading partners at all!!!

The "their" that I'm trying to redirect, is surfers that are trying to get into my paysite using a stolen password that was posted on the password traders sites. I had 100,000 hits from Ultra Passwords...

I know it's crap traffic...but I would rather send them somewhere..rather then their just getting that 401 page.

i just tested the limit get script and it works but i see it's not actully denying by
country i think it depends on your hoast
name im in the uk with aol and when i put uk
in the deny (for test porposes only) i could
still access the page but when i put com in
it refused so even thoght im in the uk im classed as US Commercial not uk

If People are using this method to send to trades I doubt very much another trade script will count the traffic with the refferer let alone yours counting the in. except possibly cjpro sites and afew oters.

If the .jp surfer comes and is immediatley bounced to your out script his browser wont have enough time to pick up your reffering url so therefore your trade partner will count it as no refferer traffic.

am I wrong?
