View Full Version : Is there any Auto Replace Link software???
I wonder if any of you sell any software to automatically change links on pages from
http://www.asite.com
to http://www.anewsite.net
Automatically to save the pain in the ass doing it manually!
Any leads welcome.
Cheers!
windows or *nix? any good windows editor will do it, like ultraedit.

I use one of my auto-submission softwares for that. But at $250, I think it's a bit too pricey to purchase just to replace links.

Hi I know it's possible with notepad for one html file, but what if I want:
I have 50 html files. In all those files there is ref?:wm . This need to be changed to ref?:aa Is that possible without edit all those files manually.
I'll check those programs out

open all 50 in editpad and do a search & replace :)
or just code a quick little perl/php or c application to get the job done.
Yes, justsexx, the first two repliers didn't get it at all. Notepad is not doing it automatically. I look for software that just can be pointed at a direcory and change al links from http://aaa to http://bbb an all 100 pages.
Is there any such siftware??

Do you have access to cgi?
I could throw a little code snippet together to accomplish that.

I use HomeSite and open all the docs I want to change and then do an extended replace for www.myoldsite.com (http://www.myoldsite.com) to www.mynewsite.com (http://www.mynewsite.com)
Works every time.......

With home site you can have it go thru a whole directory or even a hard drive, you don't have to have all the docs open...
zet,
"the first two repliers didn't get it at all"
really? funny, if you tried what I told you, you would be done by now. Like I said, go download ultraedit...tell it which directory(ies) to find and replace in, put in the criteria and you're done.
The two programs given must be the finest bunch of crapware available on the net. The ultra edit simply won't work and the other submission crap junk shit one simply won't change the links...I have deleted the junk from my box!
Is there anything else I can download - real easy software that doesnt cost me half a day to configure?
P.S. I do have access to CGI and I am interested in that script.

Don't know if this is what you mean:
http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-4003353-100-916215.html?tag=st.dl.10000-103-1.lst-7-3.916215
You can search for one type of line (url) and replace it with another in a whole dir. at once.

Try Home Site (by Allaire). This html editor can replace several lines simultaneously. Of course he can replace single line in all opened files (like UltraEdit)...

If this takes you half a day to configure, you should seek an alternate career

the keyword here is "automatically"
I dont know anything that will do it
completely automatically but when these

full-O-shit. I do it everyday just about
and its an awesome all around editor on
top of that.

Been doing that in Homesite for 3 years now. :)
Homesite is now with Macromedia and no longer Allaire. ;)

Maybe, he needs mind reader
Just, like PeepNTom says, HomeSite is excellent proggy. Try "Extended Replace..."

there is a software named Search & Replace 98. It's extremely cool, you can search for one line only or more line (you can replace a whole table) in as many files you want; it can search deep in directories also ...
have that software I use it from almost a year - is a must ..
