Why does everybody use these counters? Do they send any noticable traffic back to any of you? I am asking because I already have my logs and an analyzer to view them and it is awesome. Is it worth me to sign up for these free counters or is it just taking up space?

I notice there are many sites with 3 or 4....why???

I don't see the point of using a counter period on your page unless you are on a freehost. Everyone I think should have a good copy of Webtrends and just do whatever they want with their logs. More accurate and more detailed then any counter could ever be.
Its a traffic leak

mukoh, it is sometimes very helpful to be able to let other webmasters see your site's hits through an outside counter.

for example, if you are considering buying advertising on the site or if you only trade traffic with sites that can send a certain amount of hits...

Webtrend stats, and other stats are VERY taxing on your server. So if you have a website doing a good bit of bandwidth, an external counter will track the same stats, at a very minimal cost to you.

How is webtrends even relating to your servers load? When you download logfiles to your own computer its not much. You analyze them on your own pc.

It give you a good view of your size with the others webmaster . And they send me very good hits to ... sometimes 400 - 600 a day http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif And their traffic is very productive
