I have a problem that has been afecting me for the last weeks. It seems that my IE 5.5 doesn't refresh sometimes, even when I press the refresh button.

This is very annnoying and it makes me very dificult to see some new posts on this board.

On my internet options I have my explorer to check for newer versions of stored pages automatically, wich I think is the option everyone have and I always used.

Anyone have any idea on how could I fix this problem?

Thanks
Filipe

Hey Filipe,

Try to totally wipe your cache, that may sometimes help.

You can hold control down and click refresh
to force a complete reload from the server.

Thanks Lizard!

That Control+refresh is working great! But I don't want to be doing this every time I want to see a page I already visited before(like posts on this board).

Wiping my cache means deleting my temporary internet files, right? Well, because of this I put an option of 10mbs of temporary internet files but I wouldn't like to be deleting those files every time. The last time I did it my pc took a lot of time to delete them and it didn't even work. I would rather use Ctrol+refresh http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I had this problem once, and clearing my
temp. internet files did the trick.

If that does not help, maybe you can find
something usefull here:

Are you using a proxy server?

I just remebered that one time my ISP's proxy
server got messed up and it would start
to give me old pages, maybe that could also
be the problem.

i downloaded this shit like a month ago, takes a lot longer to load the browser itself than the old versions, anyone else experience that?

I have the same problem... takes about 2 minutes for 5.5 to just load up! I can't wait for the 6.0 upgrade! BTW... the newest upgrade they have doesn't help the slowness.

No, I'm not using a proxy server.

That site seems cool. They explain this problem and advise me to put my explorer checking for newer versions of stored pages to every visit to the page.

Well, since I have a cable modem I should have no problem in leting my browser refreshing my pages all the time.

MsKimmi, I think you should make an upgrade to your computer. It takes me less than 1 second to open my browser http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Opera just plain ROCKS!

3 things i like the most:

MDI - browser windows opening inside the main
window, hit a popups hell? - just close the
main window - all gone http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Switch for using your own StyleSheet, I have
a stylesheet with my favorite colors so when
I read boards that are hard on my eyes I just
flip on my own colors.

Switch for turning images off.

Well, back to "automatic" again...

IE sucks!
