Hi everybody,

I'm thinking of getting a dedicated server like this:

Penguin Computing, Intel 550mhz, 256MB Ram,13.6 GB Quantum 7200k EIDE , Single ethernet port, Apache, CGI/Perl, multiple OC-3, OC-48 connections to the internet

Can somebody please tell me how much traffic can this machine handle.

Can it handle something like 70-80K a day?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

I think you'll need 1GB cpu and 1GB RAM. (You need some serious cpu power if you are going to run script(s)).

I'm not going to run any scripts on the server
I'm going to use it for galleries

so can it handle 70-80k of traffic per day?

I'd bump the ram up to at least 512 megs tho... ram is cheap and your surfers will thank you, as will your wallet...

Bump it to 512 and it can handle 200k a day

Mr Woody: He does not need a faster cpu. Im pushing 100-200k a day thru ujc4, r&b4 and a few php scripts on a p3-500 and im only at 10-15% on the cpu.

Your ram will be your bottleneck, defintely not the CPU. I would go to 512 and you could probably handle much more traffic then that.
