How did you resize them? Only if you make them bigger they should blur, making them smaller shouldnt blur them i think.

Here is how I resize things to aviod blurring.

First lighten the pic if needed.

Second choose "sharpen more" (Most graphic editors should have this. In photoshop it's in the filters)

Now resize it.

Now choose "sharpen" (Not sharpen more like befor)

You should have a fairly clear pic now http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Besides sharpening, increasing the contrast will help a lot too.

usually just sharpening after is good, as most likely the picture will already be optimised at first...

If sharpening doesn't get it where you want it, try unsharp mask... Slightly more subtle effect...

How are you resizing them? Are you using a graphics program to resize the images, or are you just adjusting the size tags in HTML?

With Adobe photoshop
Resize (keeping ratios), then adjust curves (Ctrl+M), try default or choose the amount needed. Then, if needed, just go and sharp (not sharpen more). After that, just optimize. The quicker method is using Adobe Image Ready. If you don't have, just reduce colors or keep it like it is. If the image has few colors, you'll get better result with gifs (try interlaced). That will do the trick and save your bandwidth
