I would like to stress an issue...
I started working on a site a few days ago and installed UCJ on my site.In the process of coding and trying to test the script and its ability I started exchanging traffic with a couple of people (they know who they are) in my main page @ the very bottom there was and I only realized that it was there because someone saw it there, was an img sourcing piece of code something like <img src="http://..."> I did not realize this was there honestly until I received an insulting ICQ message...I just want to say to all the people involved in this thing that be carefull when you go about pointing fingers and becoming back stabbers and calling people names, at least when you do have the maturity to consider the following:
* Is the person causing the mistake or cheat a newbie?
* Has he done it before?
* Before they announce it to the whole world contact the person directly first and confront them it could be just a cut and paste mistake? A global find and replace error?
* we all know we work @ late hours of the nite? Shit happens?
* If we as PEOPLE first of all before anything else, are going to be as judgemental and as unforgiving? Think again what goes around comes around, you might be caught next in an unintentional honest or unintended mistake.
What if it was you.
Dont be a follower.
Draw your own conclusions based on your own experiences as you might be "f*****g" someone for no reason other than someone elses take on the event.
P.S. In the end everyone survives.
Peace.

Hi Sharky,
To a certain degree i do agree with you, but let me say i am pretty much a newbie to the adult webmastering and i am totally new to CJ's. For 2 months before Tim kindly released UCJ I was trying several different way to manipulate traffic all had some results but none anywhere like UCJ. I started getting 3 times more traffic than any of my sites had ever got I was over the moon my money was soaring everything was looking very rosy.
Then I was cheated had a few bad breaks and my site went from over 30k Uuiques to 0 in 48 hours. I know a lot of people if not everyone has been cheated in that last few weeks and I have been saved many time since
by other CJ'ers giving warnings and knowing how much a cheat can hurt a site I 100% understand how someone would jump on you if they suspect you are cheating.
If I being a newbie did something that was consider cheat by mistake I would expect to be ripped a second A*** ***E and to be honest I would deserve it, my site is 100% my responsabilty and I should take the time to find first. I know mistake happened but there are a lot of CJ'ers that have all ready been burnt and I think we all know that we will be burnt again I think everyone proberbly has a third eye out for cheaters.
So newbies or not we have to learn the rules we are starting to play a serious game I am hoping to earn a very good living from this and at no point should I harm anyone else doing the. We want big $$$ so the responsiblity lays totally with US newbies to find the right way or expect to be kick a bit.
Well this was meant to be a short note but there you go.
I just want to point out that is is not aimed at anyone person but a group in general
Happy trading

So you do not know how this code got on your site? Or what?
Give me a break!
Even if you steal code (also nono) you should look at WHAT you steal.
Seems that now you learn the hard way.

Well, I appreciate the feedback and like the debate, I also told the person that pointed that out that it was a mistake, if I was a cheater I would be a cheater 100% and not put just 1(ONE) bad link in just one stinkin graphic thats barried at the bottom of my page, in a site thats 3 days old and only 2K visitors/day . My only point is that yes we ought to be alert and I should have been more carefull-(not working till 4AM - Sorry.) but also my question is should the "Fresh grass be burned with the dry grass?" - if so than pardon shouldn't apply to first time mistake makers/newbies and offenders? Do the losses in monetary value outway that of common sense. If they do than I hope none of you ever serve Jury Duty.
Thank You. Thank you very much, I'll be here all week.
Peace!

sharky,
i told you i didn't want to drag this out on the boards, but since you insist on doing so, here goes....
first off, as soon as i discovered the img src on your page, i sent you an icq message. i also sent icqs to a few people that i trade with. they were online and looked at your site and seen what you were doing too. I was pissed off at you for many reasons, but i didn't want to post it on the board till i heard back from you and got your side of it. you accuse me of calling you names and stabbing you in the back, when in fact i gave you more of a chance than most people would have. since most people out there dont know what this discussion is about, here it is.
if you're trading with onlinehotties.com
http://www.onlinehotties.com/
he's img srcing his outscript
<img
src="http://www.onlinehotties.com/cgi-bin/ucjout.cgi" height="1" width="1" border="0" alt="XXX"></a>
that said, lets move on.
you claim that you didn't know any better, newbie, unintentional, honest mistake. since you told me that this is your second attempt at an adult site, i makes me wonder what happened that made you quit the first time.
also kinda blows the whole newbie mistake theory out of the water. like i told you earlier, dont quit your day job. you might not see this as a big deal, but to a lotta people this biz is their livelyhood and what you were doing was taking $$ out of their pockets, unintentional or not.
You are 100% responsible for what you put on your site. period.
I have enough work to do without having to waste any more time discussing this with you.
Hi all,
I don't really want to enter the debate about the way we should treat cheaters and about the postings and stuff, but I just want to point out that loading the script in an img src doesn't send hits to anyone so no one ever got a fake hit from it. This is something that should be considered in this precise case. One thing is sure though, you should continue the discussion in private instead of going on with it on the board, I am sure everyone can get to an agreement:)
Just my 2 cents:)

well dje
yes it does send out fake hits.. if it didn't, we wouldn't care less about the "mistake" this guy made.
Hum...
I'm not sure speed. I don't think that the img src will exec the cgi, return the url, and then load the url's html. In my opinion, it just makes the cgi loads and return the url, but it doesn't load the url's html. Well, that's my point of view, but we would need to verify, I have never seen this situation before.

Sharky ;(
Don't bring jury duty into it.
As far as I know it goes like this.
Ignorance is no excuse of the law. And if you copy and pasted that code off someone else's page then DAMN what the hell are they doing IMG SRC'ing YOUR Outscript. Yeah I have made mistakes before and I have paid a price. But I never ACCIDENTALLY IMG SRC'd Someone hehe. Not likely.

This is for Shane.
Shane said-"Once a cheater always a cheater."
What a deep and profound statement. You have never made a mistake before?
YOU are sounding like you own the freakin world "home slice". I said I made a mistake, if you dont believe me cause you dont know me, thats fine, but dont make this personal, DONT PISS ME OFF!
One day the poor man will rise from the ruble and crush authority, and reign the "Kingdom".
I hope you dont ever make a mistake as I will be watching...take it either as a threat or as a warning, check yourself man, nobody is perfect and if the rule you are preaching about would apply to you as well, I'm watching you.
Dont make enemies and take shortcuts and simply condemn somebody for one mistake...open your mind and heart and go beyond what your immediate motivations are, and be understanding, seems to me that its easier to blame and punish somebody than help them, and this discusion goes beyond what this sites do, its about us as people. ...rememer "One hand washes the other."
I had to let this out as the fact that everybody seems to be so "Perfect" makes me mad.
Peace. And dont forget to reflect on yourself once in a while.
Thanks for all of your opinions.

Yellowfello,
The <IMG SRC="http://circlejerktradesite.com/script.cgi?cheater_id"> thingo actually runs the script, even though the surfer hasn't gone to the site, and would count as a hit unless there are some smarts in the script to detect cheating. Some sites overcome this by using gateway pages, the surfer has to click to get in, and the hits would then be recorded from the gateway page.
