Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone here has shelled out the six hundred bucks for review under the new Yahoo policy; and if so, have you had any luck in terms of traffic? Was it worth it?

Thanks,

Adam

Yahoo sucks big time. They offer e-comm stores and hosting for 100 a month. Why have to pay 600 just to have your site reviewed, and possibly rejected anyways?? Do they even offer a refund?

I never made it with an adult site into yahoo but from the things I've heard I know the quality is very good and you should make the $600 back after 1-2 days.

There was another topic on this board about yahoo with many great info.

Yahoo is well worth the $600 dollar fee. And in fact that fee can be a good thing because it seems to make it a little easier getting your site in. (And a hell of a lot faster)

If you know HOW to submit a site you MIGHT make your $ 600 back in a few days. When they started that (it was $ 200 for adult sites too, then) they took almost all sites. Nowadays they reject on a regular basis. Iīd say around 50% of bizex submitted sites are rejected. DONīT expect your site to be listed just because you paid $ 600. They really donīt care. Iīm currently preparing to submit my 10th or so site. If someone would like to have me look at his site before he submits let me know, I can help you prevent common mistakes. Even when youīre listed you could get only small traffic because your title/description/URL/category is bad.

About how much traffic does yahoo send to you anyways??? Also, would a penis development site be considered an adult site???

Hey, if you people want to know how to get a regular site listed on yahoo, this is all you have to do. Submit your site to google first. Wait 2-3 weeks, and then submit it to yahoo. They don't review your site if it's not on google first, at least not for around 6 months.

Hey Lynch maybe youre right but it will cost you money when you submit to google i might suggest something first add your site to http://www.dmoz.org Once your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as Yahoo, Google, AOL Search, Lycos, ALtavista and some others

this is the cheapest way

Interesting Yahoo story .. back in '96 I had a friend that somehow got a secret employee code from a friend that was a Yahoo! employee. All you had to do was put this code into your e-mail address when you filled out their add my site form, and they would know it was a Yahoo employee and add it within 24 hours.

The trick must have spread pretty fast .. because a month later it didn't work anymore.

Here's the amazing thing though .. that site has made $30k a year for the past 4 years all by itself. It's starting to slip pretty fast now though .. easiest money ever made. Yahoo! traffic is golden IF you get a nice search.

Yahoo! employees could add hidden keywords into your searches back them too. So they gave me a shitload of them.

A few years ago some I know (*cough*) tried to bribe a Yahoo! employee into a good spot, but they must have been too scared they were being setup.

600 dollars back in two days??? For pay sites??? Couldn't be with the 2.95 trial periods.

Anyways, does anyone have any yahoo stores here?

yes, you're right lynch... 1-2 days is too short. I pressed submit too fast and didn't think to much.

about 3 years ago, a strange thing happened. my very first avs site was listed in yahoo under adultcheck.

the traffic wasn't amazing - 1500-3000 people a day - but it was pretty darn good traffic!

What's yahoo's main rules for submission??? I noticed that sites like asianfreepics was listed. It's okay to have hundreds of consoles, and thousands of blind links, but you can't have a single spelling error?

Once you get into yahoo, you can take all the content and shit down and simply turn it into a dirty popup CJ site =)

Iīd be VERY careful with changing the site after it is listed. They have no problem removing the site, any editor can do so and doesnīt need to ask someone about it. Then again, itīs not a good idea to have no ads at all when the site is expected to have ads and you plan to add them afterwards. The best bet IMHO is to submit it with almost the amount of ads thatīll will have in itīs final stadium. You could add a little bit after a few weeks, but I wonīt risk to do too much, especially when the site does rank good. Better submit another one http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I've seen sites that were shut down and still listed on yahoo. I don't think they go through their 600,000 to 700,000 link database to make sure the sites are the same as when they were posted.

That is wrong if we speak about the directory ("web sites")and not the 3rd party delivered google results ("web pages"). The directory results always get listed first in a results page, and they are the place where you get listed (if at all) when you pay 600 for the business express submission. A listing in the directory is at least 10 times more worth as if you appear in the google results only. And they DO delete sites again. Quite regularely. E.g. when someone send them a whiny email, or when the editor itself or another editor checks the site again after a while. I did get SEVERAL sites removed because of changes after the listing. A Yahoo listing is absolutely not for sure at all and/or forever. Donīt take Yahoo too easy. A good listing can bring you $ 500 every day for a year or longer (for as long as they donīt delete it or do other changes) without further work from you - no re-submission, no updates etc... No reason to think "well itīs surely just paying the fee and thatīs it" and throw $600 away.
