I just read that Beth Mansfield, Persian Kitty was a former accountant. She was looking for a way to save up enough money for her kids college tuition. So she started Persian Kitty, and now earns 80,000 dollars a month!

Good for her. She deserves it. She made a lot of money for other people. I thought she makes more, though! :-) There is no such thing as former accountant. Once an accountant - always an accountant. Since the $80K is public info, I am sure she knows how to structure her Income Statement to arrive to the "public" NIBT (Net Income Before Taxes)

Or maybe it's just low because the $80K a month figure was from an article published in 1996. I've not given income figures out since then. The vast majority of 'new' articles and books published are a compilation of old articles and interviews.

For just one site I beleive it's a very good figure. (kill me if I am wrong but I really dont think profits did change much since 1996... Traffic grows but conversions fall).

I agree that it's good money for a person that also has other business interests. But as a business with a name as well known as Persian Kitty, that little amount is not worth the effort.

Wow I guess you're pretty clueless. For a single person business that's a very nice sum. Yes there are other adult sites that earn more, but they are usually paysites with webmaster programs.

LoL heya Tom.. I'm not the only 'little jerk' eh? Been doing good. Someone emailed me about the posts on the board here so I thought I'd reply, but I guess they don't believe it's me posting (shrug). I'll say it again... the $80K a month figure originally came out in an article in 1996 when I had all of 3 banner spots on the whole site and the site was a whopping 2 pages long. I got alot of heat for even bothering to mention my income back then so I never have again. I see the $80K number hashed and rehashed in 'new' articles all the time.

I figure it's time i put in my 2 cents.

If i had a business running that was the size of PK, first off i'd set up a company name and bank account. Then send all revenue from my sites to this biz name/account.

Then i'd pay myself say $200k/year.. Save myself some taxes. And i'd put the rest into the bank, a local one and an offshore account. You'd be suprised what you can write off as a business expence, i use that loop hole to my advantage.

Well, one way to think about it is this. If one spot on one of the rotating banner spots is $2,000/month and there are 20 banners in EACH rotation spot, that's $40k/month just for one spot. I'm sure the math will prove the $80k/month wrong. :-)
