Hi, I thought I'ld ask this here, cause here there are the brightest and best minds on the planet..

(how's that for an intro!)

Okay, that problem is..I am not sure why..but my browser won't save user names and passwords for forms anymore.

I originally switched from Netscape all those many months ago..cuz I was doing a lot of work on password protected sites..and I found that the IE browser made it a lot easier..not having to type in user : pass 400 times a day.

Well, now it won't work anymore???? It's driving me nutso..I've searched all over microsoft, bugsrus, bugtraq , axcel's win tricks..zdnet..etc, etc, and no one seems to know how to fix this...or how to prevent it from happening in the future.

Anybody else found the solution..or having this problem?

thanks super genius smart webmasters!

Make sure its turned on.

IE menu/tools/Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete/Use AutoComplete for

check all of the radio buttons and either typing in a password cell or double clicking
within a password cell should show your previous entries.

Also, if you set the security level of IE to "High", you will not be able to use user/pass auto-fill in/save feature.

sorry..I knew I should have mentioned, that I've tried all the standard stuff.

so, yup..done gone check both of those!

A few other people have experienced this..there was supposed to be a security update awhile back, to provide better protection in IE...seems it shut mine down...and I've never been able to get it working again.

It's really buggin me...and MicroSoft's help, while certainly getting better..is still not comprehensive enough to fix most problems...just a couple of the most popular and well known.

they also don't want to admit they mistakes.

so they never post a fix, until someone else rats them out.

My IE5.5 suddenly stopped showing the history a few days back. Anyone have a fix for that too? My history settings are to keep page for 999 days.

The Badgurl,

Instead of relying on MS you should get TypeItIn (http://www.wavget.com/typeitin.html). It throws macros and is probably more suited to your password needs.
