I once watched a show about adult web sites on E! One topic that came up was that Alyssa Milano's mother tried to sue several webmaster's for having pics of her naked. I'm sure that some were fake, and some were real. Anyways, the webmasters with naked pics of her were allowed to do so. There is some law that states that any kind of images, stories, etc. of celebrities may be posted. Well I don't remember a whole lot about the special, but it was legal when they then, and whether it's legal know, I'm really not sure. But if it was illegal, why wouldn't all of the celeb pay sites be shut down??? Maybe it's only legal in some areas like beastiality.
Well I hope this helps some, I'm really not sure. But I've never seen any company going around selling licensed pics of celebs like Britney Spears.

That's not true. There is no such thing
as public domain. You're using illegal
content unless you buy the license to use
them... same rule for celeb pics

Thats true but most celebs just send you a letter saying please remove the pictures or else.. so its not a big problem.

Last I heard celebrities like publicity good or bad so I don;t think your going to see them shutting down sites that are flashing there pictures of free.

public domain? why do you think there is no such thing? Of course there is. I dont remember the site's URL, but there was a girl that went on Spring Break last year and she ended up on an Adult Web site and tried to get her photo taken down by the webmaster and she tried taken it to court cuz of the photo. Hey! guess what she did not win.

I'll keep it simple::
If you take a photo of a celebrity or anyone in a public area, then you own the rights to that picture.
However, if someone wanted to use your photo, he'll have to license it from you because you own the copyright.
So if you rip off a celeb picture from the web and use it on your site, you are infringing on the copyright of the photographer or whoever owns that picture.
The celebrity concerned cannot shut you down, but the photographer/owner of the picture can.
The big celeb paysites would have licensed those celeb photos from photographers/brokers etc.
You shouldn't infringe on people's copyrights because if you get caught the legal costs may ruin your life.
Doesnīt law say that you can write and post pics about people that are of public interest? You canīt do the same with unknown people but all the time with people who are well known to the public. Thatīs kinda price they have to pay for earning more money trough being well known. Well you get the direction... Donīt knwo how this applies to nude pics / fake nude pics btw

"So how come CEN and other big sites do not get shut down?"
because they paid the photographers for the right to use their pics. Just like the tabloids and magazines pay to use celeb pictures. Gosh, is it so hard to understand?

What if you have the legal rights to use a picture. Then you just stick the face of a celebrity onto it??? Would that be illegal??? http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/confused.gif

Well have you been into some of these sites? I have. I know that they are claiming some pics as public domain.....so don't jump the gun with smart ass remarks (=

I think Fart may be right, I read that somewhere as well. How do you think it was possible for all the mags and tabloids to post O.J.s mug shot on the covers, I doubt if the mags purchased rights from the LAPD to post those pics.
