That usually takes less than 5 days but it can take up to 2 weeks if the involved banks are very slow (and there're incorrect or insufficient details like routing no. etc).

Zyonic do not wait until things to bad go speak with your bank, tell them you are expecting a wire transfer for about $xxx it should be sent on the and ask how long it should take, Do this before the wire is sent and try to speak to the bank manager if possible and smile while asking do not be worried to look silly when they have explianed it to you say something like "God all this stuff confuses me I do not know how you can do it, it would drive me crazy" You need to get 2 jobs done 1 get the bank manager to know you by sight 2 to believe you are a nice person (hell I can do it anyone can)

Ok now go into your bank the day before the transfer is due and check your account for it make sure the bank manager sees you, if things are getting a little worring sit down with your bank manager and ask if they can check if the wire was sent, they can ring the international Dept who can check to see if it was sent and is in the works. Now is the time to ask if there is anything the bank can do to help you if the answers NO you lose nothing if the answer is YES it was a few hours well spent.

The moral is get to know your bank staff have a laugh with them when you pay your money in and make sure they know your face. Most bank staff are trained to help you help in banking terms mean getting you to accept as much credit as is good for the bank of course it is better to stay away from credit unless you REALLY need it, it should be a LAST result not the FIRST port of call.

Sometimes problems with the wires happen at your bank, they may put in hold if find problem with routing number etc.
But in most cases problems happen at the sender's bank. And it's impossible for your bank to figure this out what went wrong if this is a case.
You have to contact the sender and get him to call his bank and trace that wire.
It's all just a big pain in the ass, but beats clearing the checks, that's for sure...

ARS pays me by wire and it goes pretty fast but I have an account with a big us bank that has branches around the world. If your bank is a small bank the transfers don’t go directly to your bank there is one or even more banks between. IMHO it’s always good to work with big banks and if possible us banks.
