Proxie servers act as a gateway between your computer and other computers on the web.

If you surf the web using a proxie, you send a request to the proxie server, who then requests from the site you want to view.

The response is sent back to the proxie, (who in many cases caches it so not to keep requesting), then the proxie sends it back to you.

An anonymous proxy is one that allows any old geezer to use it, as opposed to one that you would need to authenticate/authorise with...

Uses of these servers?

On a network it can lower the load of an internet connection by caching popular webpages, for a general surfer you might use one to hide your identity.

Proxies are a bitch when it comes to hitbots, IP addresses cannot be spoofed (they can, but not in the context of a hitbot), so proxies are used. http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif

guys, just to know, I want to use the proxies fot tgp submitting, not for stealing hits from you. I work with a friend to a submiter program for tgp and picposts and I was just curious if I could implement that stuff (with proxies) to submit more galeries in a day to the tgp who send a lot of trafic but don't accept more submission in 1 day
