Hi,

I have booked a domain name and hosting, plan A, with xxxwebhosting. No problems with the set-up time, but what is the deal with there 404 http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/tongue.gifage and all there files on my account??
And if I publish; mydomain.com/test.html and when punching that in, up comes there fxxxing 404 http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/tongue.gifage!!
What is the deal here?? Is it because I've chosen the smallest account or is this how they work??

If this is the case I have to consider moving.. How is sextracker.com ?

Donīt go to sextracker or any of the flying crocodile stuff like sexpaces etc.. They do stuff like deleting galleries for no reason after the traffic started rolling in (well of course there is a certain reason, the same with all f***** up companies).

If you need it fast, reliable, headache free I would strongly recommend cyberwurx.com. They were the only ones that managed to set me up a virtual account PLUS install LWP perl module for me, all the same day I asked for (a Saturday).

For very high traffic stuff dynamichosting seems to be good. Their prices are good, and Iīm monitoring their speed and uptime quite a couple of months now and everything is fine. I ordered 2 times a dedicated and 2 times in a row they didnīt manage to set it up within 3 weeks. Well the refund came without problems and on time.

The cheapest traffic around is maxim.net, but they have a unbelievable worse connection to europe which means that you can forget about european surfers, if you have any. (Itīs like server down, ping times of almost half a year etc...)
Wanna check out Maxim.com: bigdickmen.com is running on maxim.

Digitalspace.net: Good prices too, and responsive at the beginning but service can get VERY worse after some time. Had a dedicated there which was totally fucked up (hacked several times, email not working at all, some htaccess stuff not working). NO answer to emails at all, and if any, then like this: "So what was the problem again?".
If you got questions you get questions, not answers. No 24/7 here. Landon the owner has a beeper but that can take half a day if anything happens at all.

XXXwebhosting: They were one of those that did NOT manage to set me up that virtual account with LWP (on that Saturday when only cyberwurx managed it).

Another quite responsive and fast person was netlineis.com, they were close to cyberwurx (they managed setup very fast, but there was still a failure and meanwhile cyberwurx had it correct). They run a Linu Cluster which means the server itself is pretty fast and probably good for cgi intensive stuff. Network seems to be fast too.

You may check you new host intensively before moving:

- tracert.com
- visualroute.datametrics.com/ (down sometimes but good)

One to add: SVWH.net (Silicon Valley Hosting). They advertise at Ynot with 1.30/GB:

- very fast the first day when the offer came up, slow since then
- no smtp (you canīt send email with you@yourdomain.com)
- refund came on time and without problems.

Meanwhile they changed prices I believe.

May I add a good one: dN.net. But do they allow adult stuff? Anyone know that? In their terms they say "obscene" is forbidden but they donīt say "adult" explicitely. Iīm not asking htem directly because most of the time when you ask right away theyīll say NO because they donīt want to say "adult welcome" but nevertheless they MAY host legal adult entertainment http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif - not sure though. On a board someone was saying he has adult stuff running there but I couldnīt figure out if that is true and if he is still there http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif . Have a non-adult server there - TOP speed, TOP uptime, reasonable traffic prices ($150 each 50 GB) but servers are a bit pricy. dN = the best host of all besides the very expensive ones like exodus, psi, akamai. (While psi isnīt top fast all the time from everywhere)

I believe that finding the perfect host is a big issue, probably the biggest of all, even before finding traffic and finding sponsors.

www.svwh.net (http://www.svwh.net) offer some great hosting http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif
i have some sites hosted with them and their speed and support kick butt. Also 2 months ago I had around 12 hours downtime (not at the same time, over a week or something) and they knocked off $400 on my hosting bill http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif
thumbzone.net and cooltgp.com is hosted with them http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif www.dynamichosting.com (http://www.dynamichosting.com) would also be worth checking out they get some cheap prices on dedicated servers also offer 24/7 support
freeteenflesh.com is hosted with them.
If your only problem is the 404 page you might just wanna put up a .htaccess file containing this code.
ErrorDocument 404 /notfound.html
replace /notfound.html with whatever you like http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

sextracker's free hosting isn't the best, their paid hosting is the best though, i've been with them for 5 months and never had a minute of downtime, they are expensive though

I have two websites on XXXwebhosting and think they are very good. Here is your problem, they automatically place a 404 redirect file in your main directory when your server is set up. It is not a sinister plot to redirect your files. This info is in their support faqs and I think it is mentioned in their e-mail when you sign up. The file is named 'missing.htm' download the file and change the meta refresh to your own main page or delete the file if you do not want a redirect.

i use xxxwebhosting too....most isp's do that with 404 errors......there is two ways to fix the problem....just like minerva says you can put a missing.htm page and that will do the trick or you can also modigy your .htaccess so it can reroute on 404 errors.......

another advice don't expect to get to much traffic above 10k when hosted on plan A as they have throttles set on certain plans....if you plan on doing some heavy traffic move up on plans so site loads faster

I switched to Prohosters.com and love it. $1.98 a gig - unlimited domains - fast servers. I totally took a chance with them and glad I did!

To clear up regarding: I actually do NOT have experience with their paid hosting and Iīm not aware whether the network for that is better than that for free hosting.

Give XXXwebhosting a chance, I have 0 downtime and for that reason will not move my sites from them unless there is a problem in the future, they are on ICQ and online, unlike many of these webhosts with ICQ support that are offline most of time. This 404 problem is something they could have helped you with immediately if you had contacted them directly.
