Most search engines read white links?

Just curious, do most search engines crawl and pick up white links (for link popularity)? I only made them white so they would blend in with the background. I also reduced them to the smallest possible size (1pt in frontpage), to the point you can hardly even see them.

Can search engines pick up on this, or am I just wasting my time and effort by doing this?

Any help would be appreciated. :o

You're actually shooting yourself in the foot.

Search engines will penalise you for trying to hide your text like that. You'll end up getting removed from their index completely.

Yeah, they pick them up and penalize you right away. A great start to search engine marketing, getting yourself onto black lists.

I have done it several times and still not penalized. If your background is white then try FFFFF0 color and use Times New Roman 2. Put it right under body tag. Use some nice titile use same description as you put in under body tag. Use same key words. Your page will come up so strong on the key words you put in Title, description, keyword and body tag

Why hide the links? I'm sure you can blend them in with the contents of your sites in some way. If a real surfer can follow a link, the SE's will most happily pick it up.
