with all this talk of hit bots, how can i tell when i'm being botted? just want to learn the tricks of the trade :)

i'm new to this game.. my tgp is almost a week old and the traffic is small but traffic nonetheless.

If you see large number of hits in shot time or your trade prod going up so quickly, a lot of sudden bookmarkers, all unusial proxy addresses and so on. I would say check the board for possible cheating proxy addresses and put them in your .htaccess. Also make a dot ( . ) bottom of your page and make the color same as your backround color. Then link it to some place and leave it. Real surfer won't see and click on the dot ( . ). If it is clicked which means you might need to check close to your traders and traffic. If I am wrong correct me

Just be careful about links with the same text colour as the background, I've seen some SE tutorials mention that search engines may detect this and penalise your page. If you do it in size 1 then an underlined dot is hardly visible anyway. You could also use a transparent image.

You can also check which links are most popular with your surfers, then if 1 trade is very different to the average you can check other things like repeating IPs, proxy traffic and others that have already been posted.

If you think a lot of hits to one link from a trade, he might be cheating you.
