I've heard that in three weeks it is no longer allowed to use your own tours and have them linked to the join pages of ARS site???
Can anyone confirm this?? If it is, it sucks!!!!!

Oh that's great - I was just working on doing that for one of their sites. I don't really like all the po ups you get when you hit the front page of the tour.

That would be really fucked up :(

This would not be good for me either, cause just like steven, I've just got done creating some of my own tours.
But the new byot option only seems that it would confirm this...

You can use your own tours, BUT you only get 30 dollars per signup.
ALso other ARS webmasters can use that tour, for every sale they make you get 5 dollars

Sorry, I really don't want other webmasters using my tour. That would pretty much defeat the whole purpose.

you're reffering to byot. You yourself get 35 $ per sign up if you use your own byot tour, and 30 if you use someone else's.
ars was bound to do this cause of all the money they make off of consoles, and the higher chargeback ratios on webmaster made tours.
Sucks, just hope it isn't true, I think they'd post something like this on their main page though if it was true... Maybe someone's just jumping to conclusions, and made this up...

ARS will allow you to Build your own tour (BYOT) and keep it private, and make $35 per sale. You do have to have ARS approve the tour before you use it though.
If you keep a tour private, you do not have to have ARS's consoles added to your tour according to Becky from ARS.
Your private tour can continue to link to a ARS join page, but you do have to have had your tour approved by ARS as a BYOT.
Check out the message forums at ARS for more info.

Why I must add my tour pages to BYOT if don`t want to share them to other ARS users?

I would think this is a pretty cool opprtunity to designers and other creative heads. You can have your own private tour, or you can LICENSE them to other for a $5 fee per signup.
Think about it as a license you sell.......and for a pretty dollar too....
Additionally, I think the $5 dollars would add up fast if you have a cool tour and you would end up making more money than you would every make yourself using that tour exclusivly.
Well, thats what I thought when I recieved their mail,

that's pretty much what they have done.... a good tour designer should make a lot of money off this program.

What's to stop the lamers of slightly changing a nice tour that they see and make it into one of their own byot? Then they would make the 5$ when licensing their slightly different tour if a webmaster decides they like theirs first.
But 5$/signup/webmaster can add up pretty quickly, that's about 14% (5/35) "referral" money just for making a nice tour
