hmmm are you finding that they are in UPPER CASE when you look at these files through another operating system?

I've noticed that windows2000 also does this ...

laters,
Chris

Yes. I have Win98SE, and that’s how I discover this shit.
First time I don’t see anything wrong in XP, and then I reboot in 98 and see UPPER CASE. OK, I say and manually renaming all. Second time, after some work, I reboot again in XP and I see "UPPER CASE" files and directories. Every file that is created in XP have "UPPER CASE" first letter.

Now I work in XP (much faster) and manually renaming files in Win98... Annoying job, very annoying.

peace

hmmmmm not sure if there is a way to get around this ...unless you can find a program / make one which renames things to lower case again for you...

you could try checking out the tech support areas and faqs on microsofts website...it might have some info there kinda obvious but might help

laters,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks for input .
Actually on Help & Support newsgroup I got answer about this problem.

So, if you or anyone have similar problem, this is a solution:

Check your settings here: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\
Explorer\Advanced

Value Name: DontPrettyPath
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = adjust caps, 1 = show caps)

Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called
"DontPrettyPath" and set it to equal "1" to display the file using their
original capitalization or "0" to adjust the caps.

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

--
All the Best,
Kelly

Again, Thanks Kelly...

peace
