I have it,

It's better than 95,98 & ME. It is easy as 98 but stable as 2000 / NT

I work with pc's all day long and I was a Win 2000 fan. I tried XP before it was public, like 6 months before.

I said before that never I would move to something else than Win 2000.

Guess what.....Since then, i'm using XP, and it was supposed to be for testing and see.

It's good for work & internet / multimedia. If you're looking for an OS for playing games, it's different. You must have a recent video card for games who require Open GL.

What I would suggest you is to, if you want it, 1- start from scratch, don't do an upgrade. Upgrade is good for once but, always good to start clean.

2- If you're a pc gamer like me between 2 jobs, install 98 on one partition and XP on a second one. It's the best of bot world.

I will tell you something, I've seen " one " 1, yes 1 blue screen since i use it, and it was my fault.

very stable.

One thing, CPU & Memory are the key.

Voila!

Mav

I agree - its stablle until you encounter a bug.

And when XP locks up, it just fucking resets, whatever you're doin, done, gone. Restart. At least mine does.

it works pretty well it's frozed up about 4 times in 7 months. If you are trying to use a burned copy of some popular software you will probably not let you install it, that is what the new microsoft xp will now do to you.

i love xp pro. had some issues with my sound blaster live, but i got those fixed. 100 times better than 98 or me. had a few wacky things happen, and i had to reinstall. good part is, its extremely easy to reinstall and it doesn't affect programs, just window files and hardware drivers.

I use Windows 2K as a workstation and I have only had a few problems involving "stop errors" having to do with incompatible drivers/software. Never restarts on me... I have had this beast running for over 4 months now without a restart. And Yes Win2k supposedly runs the same Kernel as XP. Of course, my Linux box has only been restarted a few times. Only time I have ever have to restart that machine is when I change my machine name or in X windows (KDE memory problems reading log files). I know, I should have just used 'less' at the command prompt. Funny how any GUI with the word windows seems to have stability issues

Anyway I'll stop babbling now..

Been running it for over 3 months no lock ups or blue screens. The only problem i have is me and my wife are both set up as users with different profiles and sometimes if you do not log off the other person it will mix up the two. Other then that it is great!

Shane
