anybody ever advertise in newspapers?

Hey, I am trying to think of new ways to promote my pay site. Has anybody ever tried putting ads in newspapers classifieds?

Has anyone had any success with any other advertising medium besides web-based?

I use classifieds in the newspaper, has worked for my non adult business. Thats all I could tell you, not sure it would work for a paysite, but then again. Its advertising.

I have always thought of opening an online gift shop with like collectibles (I see how my mom and her friends buy that stupid shit up all the time, in her case its frogs). Like I said I have always wanted to try it, its just that I am not sure of the response I would get, some papers are quite expensive just to run a small ad in, if it would work I would jump full time into it ASAP (I HAVE HAD IT UP TO HERE WITH THE ADULT BUSINESS).
