just wondering, I know some people hit "enter" several times on their source code and bring it out of the view, to decrease chance of people seeing copying their source code. Well, do you think that might effect the way that bots look through your source code for search engines? im thinkinbg it prolly has no effect, but does anyone know for sure?
also, sometimes people write stuff on the very top of the source code like "illigal viewing of code" and stuff like that, to scare people off. You think that might effect search engines? Just wondering.

I guess if you write something in <!--Comment --> then there would be no effect on SEs...

yeah, you would have to write it in <!--?-->
format...you dont think that would have an effect on SE? how about hitting the "enter" tab a bunch on the SC?

This would have no effect in my opinion. In fact, if I were running a search engine such as google which archives webpages, I would probably remove every single carriage return (\n) to minimize on space in the html code (not the actual text). Either way, this would not really be a good way to hide source code. When someone views the source, all they need to do is hit page down a few times until they see it. Not a very good way to hide code is it :-)

Keywords in the site will have a lower position/priority because of the linebreaks and thus affect search engine ranking.

I agree with WiredGuy. The SE indexing mechanism should disregard all extra blank spaces.
Why should those who write neat and properly aligned HTML suffer?
