then why not get a cheap local isp.. some are 15-20$/mo .. last time I used Netzero (juno as been bought by netzero no?) it was installing shit on my pc, ad rate was ridiculous and disconnecting as well..
Personnaly I'm thinking of getting a business dsl access... way moe expensive but I expect better service and no stupid bandwith quotas..

I guess they have it in Toronto if its in ON, but its always a case by case thing so you gotta check yourself on that one ;)

That's a real fucking joke! If this kind of shit comes to the Netherlands, byebye company!
I don't understand them! They get daily totally ripped off with thousands of aol, rogers, @home accounts used for free huge movie samples and they don't do anything about it, but then, they compensate their loss by passing their bills to their customers...!!! instead of handling the problem by its root!
THIS IS SOOOOOO HILARIOUS !
But somewhere, i predicted this kind of move from the ISPs last year on another board. How else can they get back all those thousands of gigabytes ripped off from their free webspace accounts. There is almost no other way than to charge and i'm sure more providers will follow with that move...
Great one!

My ISP will never do that shit because half the population in florida dont know what DSL is and they are begging people to signup always..
Not only did they give me free modem to signup early but my 3rd month was free and its only like $40 per month. Maybe you guys should move down here. :D

Im on AOL after canceling with sympatico...
Im gonna try to find a DSL place that will charge me only $29.95 for the first 3 months then cancel and get a new one and so on...

Heh ...
I would have to pay about $150 per GB if I went over my 1mbps limit. That is some expensive BW.

Can't you be capped at 1mbit?
By the way.. sympatico limit is.. 5gb xfer.. so we hit the 8$/gb pretty fast! :(

i have ultra edition its 10 gigs cap and download speeds max at 3.8 mbps

Me too, but when I measure: it never went faster then 1.5

If I go at 3.8mbps I'll leech even more so 10gb is still way too low ;) They should have been more generous and just charge the real abusers... :( 8$ per gb? they probably get it for 15cents :(

bw in canada cost much more for some reason if you find any isp located in canada they charge a lot....
when they started trackign bandwidth my friend had download 50 gigs over his limit with 1.3mpbs connection lucky for him he didn't have to pay 400 dollar bill

hrmm... bandwidth in canada aint that expensive either ;)
I've heard videotron and some other providers give good prices for commercial hosting... but for end user bandwidth they charge excessively... 8$/gb? no matter what their price is, its no where near that... :(

Most companies charge about 2-3gigs per gig that expensive you can get much cheaper rates with usa based companies
cheapunix

depends on quality of BW. Cogent is much less, but fully redundant BGP4 bandwidth is more because of extra stability.

At the Post Office (in Canada) they were offering free hosting for life on a CD for $19.99. You may want to enquire if they still offering it.:)

Hrmm.. yes and no :P I still consider 1$us to be high with the prices I'm paying right now (I'm not talking about a 20gb commitment here obviously) and 1$us is still under 2$can ;)
10cents a gb for a 100mbit commitment seems go to me, with who is that? :D I need some place in montreal but I think only videotron offers that.. not sure :O

You probably have Cogent single-homed BW! No one will give you $0.10/GB on 100Mbit multi-homed network
Cyborg
09-04-2002, 10:06 PM
datahosters offer that
rackshack offer 10mpbs at ~10cents/gig

Dont be foolish. :D
Datahosters do with Verio and I get it from Exodus. If you buy in good quantities prices can go low.. cogent just made it low for smaller users as well.
