Sometimes reading these posts makes me feel I'm too old and commercial for this industry.

I've had a bank account since I've been like 4.

there is no limit for age to open a bank account, atleast not here.

Most recent articles show that banks and credit card companies are more and more "junior"-oriented. I even read somewhere that even kids are now elligible to have a credit card, which a financial limit set by the parents...

I doubt somebody under 4 would be a webmaster? :)

However.. I guess you meant under 18... I'd say 20-25%...

I started in this business when I was 18 (in 1996). I did research before that but didn't attempt to make any sites until I was of legal age to actually collect a pay check from an adult sponsor. Unless you are located outside of the U.S., working on adult sites when you are underage is likely to get you, your guardian, and the sponsors you use into trouble.

I must admit I posted this as a frivolous reaction to some of the threads that seemed to indicate that webmasters had no methods of payment or receipt.

Actually I wouldn't mind a way of opening a dollar account without draconian charges. At the moment I have to run dollar cheques through a 3rd party (cheaper than a bank).

I hope your joking.
I've seen the sites of a lot of people on this board. there are some good ones but more often, they look like they are done by amateurs. Not to mention all the childish comments I see here everyday.
I have nothing against them, it just seems like there are a lot of them here.

I believe he's talking about credit cards... not saving accounts ;)

What constitutes an amateur site. One without flash, popups etc.

A lot of major non-adult sites are moving to simple designs with text and useful content rather than time-wasteing animations.

Hrmm..

Sleazy dream is amateur design, Worldsex is... hrmm lemme think.. hun too..

Dont judge a layout.. sometime simple is the best you can have.. :)

When I think about it most big tgps/mgps/cjs have really basic designs (not all, most I said.. I know someone will point me to one like a fool... :p)

Yep, when i entered this biz, i was of the opinion that those with the best and most fancy designs will win... I totally fell on the nose, after i realized that it could even cost me the ban-list.
I debuted by making great galleries with own flash, animated gifs etc... but rules are commonly very tight for allowing such design freedom. ;)
Since then, i went back to simplicity. And beware about opinions of little kids! They can be more powerfull than most will think! One of the leading movieposts and paysites was just 18 by the time i knew him. In holland, a guy of 15 became suddenly multi-millionar by putting up a site which compares phone-rates and finds the best rate for the intended call...
And these guys are not the exceptions!

IMO If these kids can make as much money as you, the more power to 'em. What they tell their parents about the big checks is a better question.
