Movie Editing Question

Whats the best program to use for movie editing?<br /><br />What I need is something that will convert mpegs to other formats, compress, slice it into smaller pieces, add url to video, etc.<br /><br />Can premiere do all that? I dont want to run out and get it only to find out its not what I need, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> <br /><br />Thanks,<br />-Kong

virtualdub can do it all, but dont expect a pretty and self-explaining interface <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> hey its free..<br /><br />search for "virtualdub logo filter" and you can even do the copyright tags etc. with it.<br /><br />in fact I thought about buying premiere myself when I realized that virtualdub is a perfect allround tool

I use VirtualDub to batch edit/process all of my videos. Plus its free, and always being updated.<br />There are a bunch of nice filters for it as well.<br />I have tried other tools but always come back to <br />VirtualDub

I found premiere to be too slow for that kind of stuff. Just resizing or clipping premier does a poor job of. VirtuaDub worked well though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />
