I think there have been some problems with direct NIC, it might be worth you searching this board for them.
They look to be twice as expensive as godaddy - the boards favourite.
In answer to your question, you fill in their transfer form pay one years fee (shouldn't be more than $8-$10) and wait for the registration to arrive. They should have an on-line progress report, and a control panel so that you can change DNS pointers and other details when they arrive. If they haven't - go somewhere else.
Should have said that the on-line form is on your registrar's site.
Also .co.uk domains are different.

There is a tab on the left side of your account screen... but I dunno how to use it.
If you find out can you tell me 61294953... ( i think im on your list already btw) cause I have to transfer 2 domains...

I'm not sure what you mean by my account screen. I've got a link that says I register domains for £12 per year, but that's for people that want to do everything by email.
Are you looking at my domain management site?
If you mean Direct Nic, I've never used them.

Hmm....I mean if I request a domain from someone else... basically buying it for nothing from them... but paying direct nic the 15 bones or whatever...
