Hi guys,
Is anybody getting sick of galleries and tgps...?? I mean... isn't it like chasing your own tail after a while?? Nobody is going to get rich on tgp's so i'm proposing we start brainstorming new idea as a group.
Hey, even if we are paying out bills... am i the only one getting really really bored?
I think at least another board called "new idea" or something similar to get the brain juices flowing is in order.

well, flyboy, a lot of people here do search engines, circle jerks, avs sites - it's not just tgp's.
i used to do print media for phonesex - am thinking about trying it for sites.
then there's always infomercials ;-) we made a little money there - imagine it for a website! some people buy textlinks, work top 50 lists, or work link sites.

an infomercial is a television spot that seems like a show, but is actually advertising.

ok, and how would you relate that to the online porn scene.. a porn site that seemed like a porn site buy was infact an fpa?
http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/tongue.gif i'm all up for new ideas.

What about using "offline" promotion tools!

the problem i think you have there Alex is the need for a REALLY good domain name.
Where would you advertise? Porn mags?
You've either got to get the surfer away from the porn mag onto the net (perhaps "live shows" would be a good one?) or get them to remember the site when the do go on the net.
Anyone ever advertised offline?

richard.
Beside Porn mags, 1)you could use flyers and placed them at your local Adult Store, 2)you could pay for the bags that your local adult store uses in exchange for your website logo and url placed on each bag, 3)you can get free sexphone line and promoted along with your site's URL on print media such as your local weekly newspapers (in the ads section), etc.
There so many ways of promoting sites "offline" and get better traffic than SE, but most webmasters don't even bother.

I think the initial upfront cost is a big deterent to these webmasters.

Those are good ways of promoting and I do believe in offline promotion. But I think if you can get good SE ranking, it's better than offline promotion because not everyone offline has a computer or will bother going to the URL.

Now that SEs have started charging fees of up to $600 for the "privilege" of being revied with no garanty of being accepted, I think promoting offline is very good alternative way to go.
For $600, I can place an ad in my local weekly newspaper for six months. While for the same amount I may not even get listed on Yahoo or I may get listed at the bottom on a key word that has nothing to do with my site.

Just a qucik idea that came to mind about offline promotion, how about paying to have your url on your local strip clubs drink napkins... there already there to look at nude ladies and would love to have a site to go home and join to jerk off to. http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif
What do you guys think?

I have a new idea for everyone that's bored of running their adult site. Why not start a non adult site. Seriously, if the typical e-comm webmaster had half the marketing skills and knowledge of a typical webmaster, then they woulding be dropping like dead flies everyday.

Sorry, I meant if a typical e-comm webmaster had half the marketing skills of an adult webmaster. Anyways, I'm sure you get the point.
