Why do all your sites look like shit?

Considering the fact that there is a lot of money in the adult business i'm somewhat confused as to why the majority of you adult webmasters design/purchase layouts that look like somebody just wiped their ass with it. The hun anybody?

personally i make shitty designs for 2 very simple reasons...im a shitty designer and im too lazy to try to make some cool ones :P why bother makin good lookin ones when the surfer doesnt even gives a fuck about it, he just wants his porn...and anyway...most of the time great layouts use a lot of bandwith and take time to load... so hurray for our toilet paper :P

I dont find that to be totally true..

I have never even thought of using toilet paper to create images or layouts. I have great productivity with my designs and on all of them. I have tweaked the designs time and time agian till i get the right mix. I wont say i get it right every time from the get go but my time and effort seem to pay off.

I put lots of effort of creating a design that i feel is appealing to a surfer and might just get them to return for another dose of jerking in the near future.

I can create fast loading yet nice quality images too and it puzzles me when i see some people who create thumbs compressed 40-50% which would never get me as a surfer to click them.

As for your question brandon think about this say you were on an old 33k or even a 56k modem. Would you want every adult site to be built in flash and make you say wow after you waited 10min for it to load and then wait 200 seconds for each image to load?

It takes an equal balance and statistics show on 56k a site should take approx 15-30 seconds at very max. Otherwise most of the smart surfers will jump over to a faster site and you will loose the return traffic.

because the faster the site loads, the faster the surfers can find there way to a gallery, a trade partner, or whatever.

i have had surfers ask for sites that loaded faster. my best-selling, best retaining sponsor has the most basic, low-graphics layout ever - and people really like it.
