I have been down 4 times and been sent all kind of problem domain notices and for that I get the boot. This is amazing. firstly, I'm not with datahosters and have no
affiliation with them.

that being said....

as with anything, there is always 2 sides to every
story. I heard of some issues with plesk from
another source which probably is worked out by now. And servers are machines, and machines have
faults here and there including downtime.

If you really feel you were screwed, suck it up and
deal with it like an adult which in my eyes doesnt
include a post on a public board.

I was screwed over on several occassions by one
particular host but I didnt act like this and go
badmouthing them no matter how pissed I was. But
thats just me, everyone does there own thing.

this is just my .02, good or bad... thats my story
and I'm stickin to it

Ya I can suck it up after I get my money back but really felt that others should know about some of the crap these guy's think they can get away with. So I speak my mind and if they don't like it thats just to bad. NO one should have to go thru crap like this and IF maybe YOU and Others Spoke up ON public boards about bad comparies some others may have avoided companies with these kinds of business practices. As far as 2 sides to every story I have posted the emails form me and from them as to show both sides.

It would be far more professional to at least give them the opportunity to refund your money before you bring it to the boards.

They fucked up once, they fixed it, they compensated you for it. I'm sure they would have your CC problem fixed as well if you had given them the chance, and at least a business day, to do it. The internet may be 24/7, some aspects of business are not.

Like Peep N Tom, I also have had major hosting hassles, and they were all solved without dragging it thru a public board.

First let me say I did write toker a private email that he never replied to. Second I could have let it all go as a matter of fact I had let it go since I left on the 27th, I had not said a word I just went away. Then I get the crarge to my CC, and I write them and they give me the responce THAT THEY ARE TAKING MY PERSONAL,CC, INFO A PUTTING THEM ON A FRAUD LIST!!!!!!! WHAT SOULD I DO LET THEM RUN ALL OVER ME? TO DO AND SAY WHAT EVER THEY WANT TO! TO TAKE PERSONAL INFO AND CC INFO TO A FRAUD DATABASE? NO WAY NOT ME I'M A 42 YEAR OLD MAN AND I REFUSSE TO BE PUSHED AROUND BY ANYONE. GET SOME BACKBONE AROUND HERE!

I see from the emails they admitted they had some
problems but then gave you 1 month free for those
problems on their end.

how do they owe you money still? I am unclear on that.

I usually try and stay out of these things because it is impossible to know all of the details in a one on one. Assuming that thread of emails is complete & the details of this situation are correct I have to say that I understand Twasula's frustration. In these instances ties and biases should be put aside because if each and everyone of those things had happened to any of us we would be fuckin' pissed as hell. (I know I would). I think the fraud database comment (which was completely unnecessary & uncalled for) put Twasula over the top and I have to agree with the points he has made here. All too often on the web customers get treated less than appropriately. I have owned a number of businesses in my "short" life including a restaurant in NYC and my goal AS THE BUSINESS was to keep people happy . When situations came up that did not go well I tried my best to part ways on pleasant terms so as to avoid this kind of publicity. Also you would be amazed at how many customers return if these situations are handled especially well. It is just not worth it and fighting back with a customer IS WHAT IS UNPROFESSIONAL. Customers are not unprofessional they are customers. Some are more demanding, some are devious or troublemakers but they are customers. If you don't want them as customers then you simply don't take their money.

Those are my feelings about this but again I'll add that I am not a party to this and don't have all the facts. I just agree that people should get some balls and show support for fellow webmasters who are wronged. There is this strong vibe in this business that if someone is not a webmster porn god or community leader that they should just take it up the ass when they are in a conflict with a bigger party. That's bullshit.

K, now kick my ass... I'm ready... Just don't scream too loud I'm trying to watch FAST & THE FURIOUS on my new 43"! I fuckin' love the porn biz...

My final point is that I have only heard good things about Datahosters and think that this is most likely an isolated situation but still one at that... I'm sure they will respond here and try and clear this up.

Peace y'all,
LD

I know Tom, and I host at datahosters. I am the webmaster that Tom referred to datahosters. This occured after we had a *major* melt down with another hosting company that was small and simply not prepared to deal with adult gallery sites that generate a coupla K in hits a day. I was looking for hosting that I could count on for technical support and relability (if not I was setting up my own dedicated).

Although Tom may be upset, I *personally* have found the datahosters service stellar. When I upgraded from one plan to another, they mistakenly charged my credit card twice. A simple email resolved the problem within a business day. I began with the assumption it was a mistake, and it was, and it was resolved quickly and with apologies.

Downtime? Of course! Unacceptable amounts of downtime? Nope. I have been running different sites for a while now, datahosters has supplied me with a reliable, affordable host. Any problems that have come up have been resolved quickly and professionally.

I am not saying that Tom imagined problems with his hosting, I am just giving my opinion on DataHosters service. I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend.

my dedicated server has had less than 2 hours of downtime for 18 months. my virtual server has never EVER been down for 12 months.

but i guess it's just me

i dunno what the real story is but the bottom line is that you should be VERY careful where you host. don't jump after the low prices 'cause you really get what you pay for.

as a fellow webmaster once said to me "today everyone is trying to host everybody"
