View Full Version : Linking galleries on a TGP?
I wanted to get a few opinions on this.......
I have been playing with my TGPs and the way I link to Galleries.. In YOUR opinion, which gets the best and most clicks?
Adding descriptions
Adding the dates
or just putting the category names, for example... Amateurs, Asians, and so on? I have been playing with this for a long time and I can't seem to decide which way I like it the best or which is the most productive........ so I want some opinions on this please?
Thanks

Descriptions AND Dates have always worked the best for me...

For me it's full description without a date... But I have categorized links on my pages.

It seems to me that most of the posts I've read in the past have indicated that productivity has gone up when descriptions have replaced the category; I can't recall ever reading anything about dates increasing or decreasing productivity.
I've also wondered if listing the # of pictures is a good idea, and would be interested in any opinions anyone has on that.

both, dates AND descriptions and just descriptions (with pic count) work fine.
I didnt have much luck with just niche listings which easypic uses for example

descriptions will give you higher prod
Ok perfect......... it's pretty unanimous then in all the places I have posted this question. I have them now where they are categorized and each one has a date, number of pics and descriptions and I HAVE noticed the productivity came up a bit, but I also had done a few things at the same time to increase my traffic a bit..... so I wasn't sure which was causing the better productivity.
I didn't USED to add number of pics, but have added this a few months ago and that raised it a bit too.
What I have is a layout of say Amateurs with 20 galleries each having a date, number of pics and description... and so on with each niche......... but it kinda looked a little cluttered so I didn't know if the descrips really made that much of a difference. :)
Thanks guys, you are the best. :bounce:

I guess I need to be updating my site with descriptions. I really don't know why I did'nt do that in the first place.
Adding descriptions works the best for me

if you list more than 20 gallerys per day, than the date helps you also to increase prod. i just changed one of my MGPS to descriptions instead of 'gallery#1...', works very very good.

Some experience i wrote about in the past on this board :
i used to have VERY descriptive galleries on my site, and from my experience it all has the glance and the shadow sides :
Very descriptive titles :
+ VERY targeted traffic (surfer can choose what appeals him/her best)
+ Looks better
+ MUCH better SE spidering
- Huge text files (and believe me it MAKES a difference)
- Less space for more galleries (especially if there's a tendance to put them in tight columns)
- Less clicks depending on layout
No (or not very) descriptive titles
+ Good possibilities to use gallery rotators
+ If used with Java, very quick loading of same text
+ Targeted and easily sortable columns
+ More links (depending on layout)
+ less bandwidth through smaller file
+ Relatively much more clicks
- Less targeted
- Less SE spidering
- more standard output, since you see it every were
Anyways, it's always good to experiment with both types of sites, it has all its plus and minus sides and i just listed my opinion/experiences. A bit off topic, but feel free to continue discussing about this !

PS : btw, Tam, what was one of your sites you got running? I remember one of those was scary but also funny as hell, from a submitters point of vue :D Would be cool if you'd leave your url on here so i can start submitting you some gals in the futur, thx =)

Yup... Description For Sure....
And, if you have a substantial number of bookmarkers, dates can also
help with productivity.
Cheers
