Hi there,

I have (only) 30k visitors/day on my CJ Ultra sites, but the mysql server is returning the error "too many connections" very often.

The tech guy from the hosting company says the problem lies in the fact that mysql keeps too many connections open and eventually is flooded and will crash. The tech guy blames the script/lack of resources for that. He tweaked mysql and raised the number of allowed connections, but the problems remained.

Now we've decided to get a dedicated server: webserver and mysql server on one machine. In short this is what we bought: Dell PowerEdge 1550/2x Pentium3 933mhz/1024mb memory/3x 18gb scsi in raid5 config.

Should this machine be able to handle my 30k visitors per day using the CJ Ultra script?

Greets,

Robert, The Netherlands
ICQ 144351202

Well if you are going to invest in a dedicated server you should instead invest in a real script. If you host cant handle 30k on virtual then i would seek alternate hosting we have guys pushing well over 30k and they use various scripts.

I also hear good things about another script Traffic Drive which is free but have not yet tested this myself. That server should be more then you need for mere 30k hits but honestly 30k is nothing.

This is not just spam to get you to change hosts but its a fact 30k is very little and i would not entirely blame CJ*U*ltra.
