mini-dv is where its at. we use mini-dv at school (i go to art school) and they just make life so much easier when it comes to editing. you basicly just plug them into the computer or editing machine and point, click, cut, paste and your done. ive always recoreded the stuff i do on high-8 or regular-8mm onto mini-dv before i work on it.

and if you do buy a mini-dv, go all out. we have the cannon g-1 i think, like the first generation of the really top of the line cannon mini-dv cameras and its dope !@#$$

The difference is:
HI-8 is analog, Mini-DV is digital.
If you are planning on using your computer to edit your footage then digital is the way to go.
Using analog your system will have to go through a extra step changing the data into a digital system and you will use some quality.

I guess such things like cams are not for a week or month when we buy them.... If you think about future, fo with Mini DV
everything goes to digital now...
think of those old analog synthesizers... nearly nobody uses them anymore :)

I recently bought a Mini-DV and I'm very pleased with it. It's Sony DCR-PC101E and it has some great futures, plus it's very small.
I don't know what program to use to edit the stuff I'm recording...can anyone recomend me a good proggy please...

I decided to buy Sony DCR-PC115 as i think i don't need Bluetooth on my camera :)
I guess Adobe Premiere can do nice things with this kind of digital videos
