Ok, I am in the end of my first month of operations and already I am in the high chargeback rate of 2.6% ..
What's the deal? I have a nice link on the members page where they can cancel, any advise on how to lower the chargebacks.

And what is the policy on chargebacks? I mean if someone just forgets to cancel how does he have the right to charge it back.. On the signup form there is text in brackets telling them how much they will be rebilled for.. If someone just forgets to cancel their membership(which I think is exactly what is happening here) why should we credit them with a chargeback.. If you forget to cancel your telephone services and gets a bill the month later for that last month of phone services, the telephone company would just tell him where to put it.. Why are we any different?

Because the surfer can say you didnt delever the service or the service was not as promised and you must refund. Sure you can fight it take them to court or send to a collections but credit card companies dont want to foot the bill.

If they refuse chargebacks and the user refuses to pay his bill then its the credit company that gets burned. If your getting major chargebacks maybe your advertising your site offering things you dont have ect..

I see many very small sites claiming to have all the same shit as the big boys and that can be a problem. I would put up a notice for all members to see stating that charging back for services delevered is considered fraud and may result in criminal prosicution.

Also if you get to many your processor may decide to shut you down so better find a way to keep them down. Otherwise you can just tell users to send you cash and you wont have to worry about it.

I think alot of user chargebacks has to do with webmasters teaching surfers to charge back memberships on bigger sites.

Are you throwing refunds in with chargebacks? Or are these true chargebacks with a 25 dollar fee?

Hmm, is it worth it then to have those 5 day 2.95 trial memberships that convert to a full membership with the chargebacks that go with it?
I can imagine that is where they are all coming from, I get about 6-8 2.95 signups a day, and a few higher ones...

All of the big boys have those prices..
is it worth it?
