much 404 traffic?

Hi,
Since a few days I'm counting my 404 pages. And I have a lot of 404 traffic. Do you know how that can be>? All thumbs are pointing to larger images, and also other pagesdon't result in errors. I have around 1000 uniques a day at 404. Also a few 403 errors, whatever that may be?

Maybe someone linked you to a page that doesnt work anymore. Make sure you redirect your 404.

No, I think it is a htaccess thing... I mean, when someone enter now an image directly in the url he don't get it...He have to come from my domain... Otherwise he will get an 404 error. So a lot of people are trying this or are hotlinking :( But 1000/day is pretty much...

if you have the htaccess hotlink protection you need to add a rule like

RewriteRule !^$

else the people with blank referrers will get that 404 you're talking about. and there are a lot of people out there with blank or masked referrers.
