many programs only count signups if cookies are on even porncash which boasts about
it's no shave and test signups says it only counts signups if cookies are on in the how to do a test signup section I think ccbill sometimes needs cookies to track signups so anyone know who many sufers have cookies turned off

We always use cookies to count joins if a sponsor is using our referral program, the ones that aren't can opt to pass thru information or use our info privately.

Very few surfers turn off cookies, and as long as it's default to on with browsers it should remain that way.

If it were to become default off with browsers we'd look at implementing some other system --

Default in IE6 is no third party cookies, I suggest everyone test their systems. So far we are the only company I have seen besides microsoft to fix theirs to work with IE6, and IE6 is in beta and being used at the moment.

If you don't use third party cookies which alot of sponsor systems don't then its of no concern, if you need more info let me know http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

From my experience-

Non adult = 2% cookies off
Adult = 15% cookies off

These numbers are rough, from balancing referrer logs against my cookie logs, but I think adult surfers tend to turn them off much more often.

so if tuzz is right any adult sponser tracking signups with cookies shaves at least 15%

<quote>Adult = 15% cookies off</quote>

Shane,

You could be right. Server referrer logs aren't always the most accruate, and if anything I would tend to lower the "off" percentage to err on the side of safety.

As far as (if or what) sponsors shave...only they really know.

Nor do I Shane.

andy2k, my always negative friend, don't think for a minute that if someone wanted to shave -- and ran their own stats program, that they couldn't do it in any system -- the best thing for all webmasters to do is either send traffic only to sponsors they trust or figure out who's giving them the biggest check at the end of the month on a given amount of traffic.

Yes I know a sponser can shave without cookies I was just wondering how much is lost
from cookies I was useing busty amateurs with epoch before they shut down and they often had a link on the epoch tour to ccbill
sometimes the ccbill tour had a link to epoch
I don't know if it's %15 or %2 I just said if it is %15 as tazz first said then people
would lose that many signups

As I mentioned in another thread, every large sponsor that I know using us runs their own stats and accordingly says they credit the webmaster for all joins -- I can't vouch for the small ones, or the ones that don't run their own stats programs -- and since bustys not running ANY sales at all any more, no way for me to take a look at it --

In the end, the real solution is to see who sends you the biggest check for the same traffic http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif
