Well i dunno bout the rest of you but i been recieving about 10x the viruses and porn membership spam this week. Aparently somone has been selling and distrubuting my emails everywhere and im not to happy to recieve 20-30 porn related ads daily.
Remember forging headers is a big nono you can try to mask it but your sponsors have all the info needed to take legal action. I have already managed to shut 5 sponsor accounts and 3 hosting accounts so far and im just getting started i have about 20 more to go. Now i know one of these mailers must be on here because the email getting hit hardest was collected by a spammer on AWI previously so if your doing this shit i advise you stop.
This is not a game to spam everyones mail and try to make a few $$$ and im a fucking webmaster so why the hell would i buy your shit. I know many have been posting about having huge email lists lately and i just hope none of mine are in there because if they are your gonna regret it.
You cannot legally just buy a so called opt-in list from somone who collected on their site or spidered these mails and if you did suggest you dump them now. It may seem easy and you may get away with 1-2 mails but eventually you will hit the wrong inbox and wont get paid.
I know alot of folks may think its a game but what you dont realize by spamming a sponsors links in an unsolicited email they are liable as well as the host who allows it to continue. Already a few sponsors have even offered private account details to be turned over to my ISP so they can prevent any legal action against them without me even needing to ask.
I hope the guilty party reads this and yes this email of mine was purchasd or spidered by an AWI user before as the spammer admitted it. So you may choose to ignore my warning but when your checks dont come dont say you got cheated by the sponsor cause you will look like the fool.

toker,
How can I know which dialer program they use or... I mean I get dialer spam every day but I don't know how to or where to report the spammers especially when they use a freehosting.
My fun time every day is to check every my email account, report the spam email to their sponsor or hosting and waiting one or two days to receive a mail back said that account was shut down :D

Let me weigh in with Toker and say woe unto yee who spams me! You get immediately spamcopped (which can get your hosting/ISP yanked) and of course I do my utmost to track down your sponsor as well and report it to them as well.
Keep fighting the good fight, Toker.
Cheers,

I don't spam but I think it's sad you guys report these people trying to make an extra buck, even though it's illegal you can easily delete it,I think some of you are made because you have spent 5 years trying to make a living on the net and a spammer can make in a week what you make in a year ;)
Grow up and Stop trying to ruin somebodies day.
letcher,
you need to open your eyes...we have about 4000 domains, when some asshole decides to spam from the whois db, I get a fucking TON of crap. goes straight to spamcop cc'd to the ftc. at least they should have the brains to attempt to target the spam.

Jesus, where do you guys get your facts from? It is NOT illegal to spam. Sure you can get a lot of heat for it and get your IP addresses blocked etc., but it is not illegal. You are not commiting a crime by spamming, you're just pissing a lot of people off.

Ok regarding dialer spam i dont get much of that i got like 1 time and i will download the thing and see whos dialer it is.
Ok now you say spam is not ILLEGAL well guess what AOL has gotten judgments against spammers who abused their network for sums of $100s of thousands. Now you say why do i care when i have to dowlonad this shit well you see it wastes my time weeding thru fake subjects.
Im a webmaster and when i get a mail with a subject "i tried to contect you" flagged urgent it pisses me off. Furthermore what if i had kids and they got this shit as the account that is spammed is not used for adult shit and i dont want it to be used for such.
Now you may not understand but yes SPAM is illegal acording to every provider out there who states this in their TOS. Forging headers is also a very BIG nono and 99% of the spam is faked to look like it comes from a yahoo or such. This means i have no way to remove myself and when i hit the unsubscribe shit it only gives them my IP to make it seem like i did opt-in to there shit.
I have tried and tried to get off these lists but the replys always bounce and its a big waste of my time. I dont give a shit if they can make more then me by doing this shit and you know anything thats illegal or wrong can make more money.
You have FFA and get rich overnight scam sites that make more then porn but does that mean hey i should do that too?
I could make more money then i do now selling drugs and its ilegal but it still makes more money. So if you defend spammers your just as bad as them or your one of them and i hope you dont get paid.
If you run a webmaster progam and people spam your program and it got you sued or in shit with your upstream you would change your tune real quick.
Moral of the story its a violation of your contract with your ISP and its wrong so if you do it and i recieve it your fucked. If you think im wrong ask your sponsors what they will do when they catch you and why 50% of them wont allow even legit opt-in mailing with offers related to their programs.

You know the ENTIRE reason everyone forges headers now, and makes it impossible to remove yourself is because of complaining fuckers like you guys, who go out of their way to make trouble if you get one spam email.
Spam isn't illegal, it doesn't matter what providers put in their TOS. Violating your providers agreement is not a matter of illegal or legal, its a violation of a contract.
The internet has now become a big fucked up free for all with spam, because no one wants to risk the spam being traced by them. it was much better in the old days when spam wasn't faked and you could easily remove yourself from their list.
Don't try and fool yourself either, if some spammer is making a sponsor $10,000/week, you really think your complaint is going to get his account terminated?
Especially for a perfectly legal form of advertising, as long as you aren't in certain states, and if you are in those certain states as long as you put a remove link at the bottom of the page.

ALL big sponsor companies wouldnt be what they are if it wasnt for spammers in my eyes,I don't spam once again but I don't knock what they do.It takes as much skill as being a webmaster, you said you could make more selling drugs, but you dont know how so you wouldnt ;x my point is if you knew how to spam and do it right you would do it too

Spammers All Suck Big Fat Donkey Dick!!
When was the last time you had to explain to your son/daughter what they were looking at because they clicked on the fucking spam link? Puts it in a little different perspective doesn't it. Toker, I'm thankful for any webmaster that contacts the proper authorities about these scumbags.

p.s. there is a huge difference between mass mailing potential customers, i.e. the junk mail we get at home, and sending porn indiscriminately to e-mail addys that kids have access to. When was the last time you got a piece of junk mail at home for the local strip bar? Never, huh? That's because those ads are in the sports and business sections of the newspaper, so that they can hopefully keep the shit away from kids.

Look at all the little spammers come out to defend their practices. It's very simple: Spamming is against the TOS of almost everyone involved. It's unsolicited, and under certain US laws (state, I believe) the spammer can be hit up for $500 for each unsolicited email.
As for ProgGod's whining (I know now not to do business with you) - it's quite simple again: The FTC will bust the nuts of sponsors who turn a blind eye to spam. That's what good ole uce@ftc.gov is for - perhaps you've heard of this small agency?
And you don't fool yourself, as I've busted quite a few spammers - I know because they stop spamming me, or I'll get new spam from them a week later, and it will be a different sponsor, or on a different host. (They're not even bright enough to remove the email that's causing them this pain.)
In any case, spam may be here to stay, but that doesn't mean I can't make life incredibly miserable for each spamming piece of shit that crosses my path.
Cheers,
Backov

A toast to the ones who follow in the path of justice!
I will have you know its not one fucking spam its every fucking day and some assholes are sending 5 with differ subject and addy but same body.
Now i should have my server clogged with this shit since im on dialup i guess i deserve to suffer with 10 mins of DL time to read my fucking legit mail. Maybe you like to have bandwidth used up ProgGod because that makes you money and so may the spammers but as for myself it makes me a very unhappy camper.
Why do you think FAXing shit is illegal because its called theft of services since they dont pay me for the shit. Junk email once in a while i can live with but not every day all day and its getting really bad this past week.
You say its not illegal well i guess you dont know the laws but anyway here it is for your reading pleasure. If you care to challange me email the addy backov posted im sure they can clue you in since you dont make the laws in this land.
Federal Telephone Consumer Protection
Act of 1991, and Collateral Code of Federal Regulations (47 CFR 64.1200).
The TCPA allows a private right of action against the sender of unsolicited
advertising. The recipient can sue for $500, or actual damages (whichever is
greater). http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/47/227.html
I hope the next bill to congress makes it illegal with jail time as theft of my services and everyones time!
