My friend got a mac, so I'm looking for a program to make thumbs from movies on a Macintosh.
High-quality thumbs are a must.
Does this method (I use it on my own PC) also work on a Mac?:
----------------------
1. Pause the video on the picture you want.
2. Press the 'Print Screen' Key (Now a picture of the whole screen is in the Clipboard).
3. Run an utility like 'Paint shop Pro'.
4. In the Edit Menu, Click on 'Paste' (CTRL+V)
5. Crop The picture.
6. In the File Menu, Click on 'save as'...
----------------------
Thanks
here is what i normally do..
pause the movie where you want the thumb
push option(apple)+shift+3 for a screen capture... this will be located on your harddisk in the root..
and then you can edit it in photoshop etc... but please remember that it takes the entire desktop so you need to do some editing...
or you could push option(apple)+shift+4 and drag and drop a box around what you want to screen capture ....
hope this helps

Thanks Turf, you'll get a fat rating from me 4 this one. :D
How about the quality? Is it good?
(It's because i don't use Macintosh myself)
Thanks

I dont know about this program... but have your friend check out a program called "snap pro" its a bit more userfriendly about taking screendumps on the mac...
About the quality the pictures it saves on your harddisk will be 72dpi and the size of your screen in pix in hight and width...
so if you only want to use it on the web it will be fine in quality.. if you want to use it for something that you need to print in highcolor... it will not be very usefull..

Thanks
Well Ifranview takes screenshots of the same size as the video. Any prog does that on Mac?
Snap pro captures the whole screen, right?

Dude, you are doing thumbs from a quicktime movie? If so, export them from the file menu, works in both PC & MAC. I did it today! Works great, you scroll forward till you find the cap you want then export it, open it in photoshop, and BOOM! Thumb for sites!

Well, it's not for me ADIDAS. My friend (who has a mac) is going to help me out w/ my movies.
He's watching AVI & MPG-videos. Don't know if he uses Quicktime for that. I'll ask.
Thanks

Nope... snaps pro lets you descide if its the window or the whole thing you want to capture...
thats why i surgested it... but you can get the same with option+shift+4 that lets you descide what to capture too... just a matter of dragging a box around..
have him test it and if he cant get it to work, icq me... i will try and explain it to him while he i doing it ...

He's doing fine. I'll ask what method he's using now.
But each thumb is only 28 pixels. And the width and size vary a lot like:
350x240
348x241
351x239
350x243
Is he able to set the width and size fixed at 350x240? And how to increase the quality.
