I am talking about www.adultcentral.com (http://www.adultcentral.com)
aka ontimeonline.com
A couple months ago (yeah not recently, but their DNS downtime reminded me of this)
i tried hosting with that WebhostISP
They promised nice uptime and all, claimed to monitor the servers and everything.
Here's what they really did:
1. never sent me a welcome letter with mysql
(although they DID send it to another person who hosted with them)
2. Placed my site on a slow-ass server
which didnt respond to about 25% of the www requests and took about 10-15 seconds to start loading the site, sometimes it didnt respond at all
3. I of course asked them to fix that and they promised to do so but never did, just claimed that they did
4. Then I asked them to move my site to another server and they didnt do that
5. Then I sent them a request to cancel my account - they didnt even fuckng respond to it, but deleted the site in a day or two.
So, if u want all of these things happen to you: welcome to adultcentral.com

TwinTone out of curiousity how are you offering this type of deal?
Main reason i ask is that most sites do well over 5gb a month and if you charge per GB after initial 5gb. How can you be shure they pay up after or what if they do need more?
Also how are you letting users moniter their bandwidth via MGI, MRTG ect..? also what features are offered ie.. MySQL PHP CGI and the likes?
Also what type of server and what OS do you run on the server?
Reason im asking is your marketing tactic seems quite interesting as most would offer 30 money back guarentee but never 100% FREE month of hosting.
Please give me further details of what you can offer besides the freebie deal what are your prices per GB ect..Im just thinking you should post full details instead of per customer type deals over ICQ.
I personally will never do business with a site who only throws up invisable offers to promote their service like many have.
To the others please don't contact me i have details of just about every host on the market and if i need to talk i will contact you. :P

noticed little thing, every time some webmaster posts questions about hosting, bunch of hosters jump in with offers. Hehe.
I wan't aware the competitions in adult webhosting so huge. My opinion any decent webmaster who has some cash to spare, (and most of them do) depends on location can easily get T1, DS3 or something from say MCI or Global or other Tier1 and bypass all these middlemen. The advantages you get is well worth the hassle. At least no one will tell you what to do and there will be less bitching about the webhosts. Oh yeah, you need to learn the hardware, OS, dns, networking, some routing issues and other shit but the more you know the more valuable you are. And btw, this way your bandwith is never an issue, your speed is never an issue.
For the beginners it's not the way of course,
and I bet everyone goes through host horror one time or another (I know I did). If someone asks webhosting questions they want to see recommendations and unbiased opinions, not offers. Just my 2 and half cents, no 'whoz dick is better' intended. LOL
On the other note, looking for the knowledgable guy to program voice over IP stuff for me. Please hit me on icq 14562798
peace
