"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

This comes up when I try to view the Internet Options under Tools in IE5. This just started tonight. Has anybody else had this happen??

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions

delete if present.

or try doing a search in the registry for NoFolderOptions and NoBrowserOptions and delete them both.

Sounds like a direct registry "tweak", ie a page using some sort of "auto-homepage" script could be fucking with your registry.

I am running Windows 98 and IE 5.5.

Thanks for the help Richard. I think that solved it.
